No doubt. But if I were a seattle fan I would be iffy on their GM to find a rb in the draft, they have whiffed quite a few times. But I see them pursuing someone in free agency like Blount or Lacy.

4-3 Under is just an alignment. It does not specify gap assignments. The diagram above is how SEA will often assign their gap responsibilities to free up their Will and Mike. There could be plays where they do this, where everyone is one gapping. The diagram below is just what could be happening, not what is happening.

good points

Lynch brought this up in his interview. He was always a 1 gap player, signs with NE and they wanted him to be a 2 gap guy. Hard for an older guy to learn new things when he's used to doing something else.

I thought CJ when healthy was pretty good...they need an OL lol. Not doing s**t without one.

Not sure how it can be worse than the worst defense in franchise history man.

lose every game by 30+ points
that would be worse

Umm care to explain?

Do you even know who this guy is or what he's capable of as a coach?

Or is it because you've never heard of him and now you're coming to a conclusion before the guy has even coached a down in a game as a DC?

At least let the guy coach before we go writing him off as incapable of running our defense.

I remember people saying the same s**t when we hired Fangio.

Remember we have a competent coach and GM doing the hiring and not Tomsula, Kelly, or torn acl lover hiring the coaches.

defo will probably play a majority of his snaps at 3t

AA will likely play strongside DE in base. dial could also see time here.

I think they'll transition eli to sam

I dont think we have our 1t yet unless dorsey is resigned. i think this will be addressed in FA/draft.

although he's not the prototype, lynch will probably play the weakside/leo role. also will be addressed in FA/draft.

Agreed with his...we have no 1tech and id love to bring in someone like B Williams in that role. I do think we need some speed at the LEO

Thoughts on tarrt moving to the will?

Lynch would have the speed to be a LEO if he wasn't hovering around 280 pounds. Get him at 265 and he's good. Harold hasn't made a peep since being drafted and while he was very raw at the time, I don't think we can count on him turning it around, considering he hasn't even shown flashes at this point.
Keep Tartt at strong safety. He can play in the box or fill that flat role(you know, the one that picked off Kaepernick in the NFCC).

The assignments in this type of defense are very simple for the LBs and DBs. That's why they draft guys that are athletes. They want them thinking less and flying around the field more.

I wonder how this might affect our draft now: Garrett, Allen, Lattimore, Adams/Hooker, Foster, etc.?

Actually pretty exciting. WCO and a Seattle style defense

I'd rather have Solomon than Allen to be honest...

We better make some adjustments b/c the Hawks defense gets destroyed in the playoffs.
Kinda makes sense Shanahan wants to use defense system like the HC he was just under. That's what he got accustomed to working against in practice, not that it's the reason but could be a reason. Won't be clone of Seattle defense but something similar.

That's because they have lost some good coordinators and good player depth.
