We gotta evolve and match our opponents. We need bigger OL so they can just bear hug, hook, and hold the entire game.

Push the law like Pete the Cheat (holding by the CB's; now OL) and now, the Ravens and Chiefs in the Superbowl. Find the loopholes. 80's 9ers OL pushed the rules with leg-whips because they were a lighter, more nimble OL.

Officials need to take a closer look as to what goes on in the trenches tbh, too much holding all across the league imo.

This is true. It's bad in all games. It seems worse against us because our Dline is so good.

There's a reason the league allows a certain amount of holding. It's called protect the QB at all costs. The league is so dependent on the starting QB that they can't afford to have teams lose them so they allow some holding. Look at the recent rule changes they put in to protect them. Most teams don't have and can't afford a good experienced backup so we are stuck with what we have now. I have been saying for years that the league needs to exempt QBs from the salary cap so teams can have some real depth at that position. Allow them to pay the backup a decent salary so he won't be tempted to leave at the first chance he gets.
I like that QB idea. Or just have a whole salary cap structure Just for QBs on the roster. Have like three QBs on the roster for every team and one or two on the practice squad. And every team gets 50 million to spend As they like. Then we can get back to playing real football.

Maybe the first 30 million is free then everything over that counts against the cap something like that.

Dammit...so close....
Anyone else wish there had been slightly different schematic calls during the SB? Both picks we had were in our Dime defense:

On a couple big plays -- the Moore PI vs Kelce and Watkins beating Sherman... why not have Sherman man up Kelce? Definitely shouldn't have Moore on Kelce, and Sherman has the best size matchup with the Chiefs #1/2 target and top 3rd down target. Then put Ward on Hill, E-Man or K'Waun on Watkins, and then Moore at FS.

Maybe also a nod toward Sherman eventually moving to S (or soon...), as I think he'd be great against the top TEs in the league

Good article. I can't believe the unwillingness to break from tendency. Especially in the 4Q when it's been three quarters of giving the offense the same defensive looks. I know Moseley got heat for that 3rd & 15, but I give more credit to the offensive play design.

Cover 3.. Every time. Has that even been done before in a Super Bowl where the defense played essentially the same alignment for 99% of the game?

Hold up. I just noticed an inaccuracy in the article.
From the article:
When Mahomes was in shotgun, they played Quarters; when he went under center, they played Cover 3.
Every time.
We're talking a 100% tendency for the entire game.
----
But on that 3rd & 15, KC was in shotgun and 49ers played Cover 3.
