Why wasn't this the case pre Bosa?

In 2010 the 9ers had:

Patrick Willis
Navarro Bowman
Justin Smith
Dashon Goldson
Ahmad Brooks

2011 they add Aldon Smith and they instantly become a top 5 defense, I wonder why??

Totally agree,

Looking forward to ShanaLynch drafting another promising edge rusher in next years draft. As for AZ, I'm looking for our beefed up middle DT's to really put a hurt on Midget #2. I woudln't mind if Saleh actually blitzed a little more than usual in this Sunday's game.

Given he has been given 40 first round picks, you'd hope so. That's not to diminish his evolution in adopting the W9 front 100% of the time or more 2 S looks under Woods...sounds like there will be some new wrinkles. Now he's got to learn to close games out even if his unit isn't 100% healthy. More scheme focused. I'm excited to see how much he's evolved this year.

It's almost as if talent makes a difference.

I've said for a loooong time that talent was the main reason Harbaugh was successful. Talent can carry poor coaching pretty far. I do think both are good rah rah coaches but terrible x's and o's in the moment coaches. Look at the Super Bowl we blew a double digit lead in the 4th. KC marched right down the field. Against Seattle we were an inch away from falling out of first as Seattle marched easily down the field with no resistance. Against Atlanta they marched down with absolutely zero resistance to beat us. Against NO, they marched down the field with zero resistance in less than 1:45. Luckily Kittle made the play of the year to hide that. The week before the Ravens did the exact same thing to beat us with a FG.

You know why? Because he plays a bend but don't break philosophy. In crunch time teams know he has no balls(figuratively) and that if they just take what they want in his soft zone they can causally march down the field. Ive pointed out that it happened time and time again.

When the pressure is on, he's been garbage a majority of the time. People can point the finger in every direction but we had a 10 point lead with meer minutes left. He deserves as much of the blame as anybody.

As he does deserve the credit as well.

Added depth should help stronger finishes. "All gas no brakes" needs a reserve tank to reach the checkered flag.

Also, I'm hoping that the offense will even increase time of possession to keep the defense fresh as a daisy.

LMAO. I feel the same about Kyle's offense.

Totally! They were #1 on 3rd downs and that's key.

Dude didn't change it up for most of the SB.
Andy Reid knew what was being ran constantly. Yes that falls on Saleh.
He definitely had his hand in pretty deep on that loss.

Didn't realize this was specific to the SB
Defense shut down KC for 3 1/2 quarters and it should have been a done deal when Moore intercepted PM with about 9 to play. Even after that, Moseley blowing that coverage is not on Saleh . His play call there put faith in Moseley that he would not bite on the Watkins dig route. Had he not that could have very well been an INT for Ward due to him reading the play correctly and breaking on the post route

Saleh showed one of the best offensive play caller the same D over & over & over.

I stand by everything I wrote above . That play call above in particular was the right call, Reid just happened to call an even better play that was banking on a guy to bite and he did. No shame in Andy Reid calling a better play. Agree to disagree
I'm not sure blitzing against Mahomes would have helped the cause. All hands were needed back there to disrupt the connection between PM and his receivers. The pressure had to come from upfront. The pressure waned at the end of the game because the DL was gassed due to a thin bench.

While KM is not PM, I still think the pressure needs to come from up front all day long.

When a defense can put pressure with 4 men every coordinator in the galaxy will look like a genius. When you have to manufacturate the pressure with different packages and you can do it that´s when you are a real genius like Belichik does.

Saleh is a genius?.......Nah. His players are better than him.
