Here's to hoping we bring Ian Williams back as a reserve/rotational player, assuming he can pass a physical.
I really hope we sign someone better, and the Niners payed way to much

exactly what I asked earlier in the thread, it looks like we won't be drafting Allen. (I like him as well lol) but it's crazy to have 3 first round picks on the d line like that. You don't want that much money (or future $) tied to that one area. The only no brainer is if Cleveland didn't draft Garrett. Then you just draft him and worry about the other stuff later lol

I like this signing. Good veteran presence. We probably should be giving heavybyear one salaries because we are carrying over a lot of money right? So yeah. Good moves!

Weeeeell at least Millen advised against wide receivers three years in a row.

I wouldn't count on him coming back or staying healthy.

Yes, and a very good fit for the niners. He's not strong enough to be a 3/4 NT but can be a very good 4/3 DT. From the various videos I liked his tenacity on plays...doesn't seem to stop until the RB is on the ground. Armstead and Buckner both had a tendency to stop and look when they did not make the tackle right away. This new scheme will be more agressive (I hope) and that will allow the DL to look much better. Many watch 3/4 lines and get irritated they aren't making plays, but it' a special 3/4 DL who can get through doubles to make plays consistently. Justin Smith was just so great he spoiled us! Darn him!

Good write-up.

If not, I think bringing Dorsey back (as long as his playing isn't also greatly diminished by injury) as a backup wouldn't be a bad idea.

Kinda how it works bro when your coming off a two win season. Let's just rejoice in that free agents are starting to consider us again with playoff contenders in the mix vying for their services.

Yeah, it's a full switch now...going 4 DL means we'll need more DL bodies/depth and we'll need specific types of players for each spot. A refocus. Look for Chris Jones to be resigned to spell Buckner at LDE, we could still look at an immovable object in Williams/Poe/Hankins for LDT/1T and we certainly have a critical need for edge rushers especially at RDE/LEO.

And heavy rotations!

The alternative is going into the season with a Baalke-built shallow roster. I don't think this was a bad signing at all.

Signing Mitchell does not prevent us from signing a run stuffing tackle.

Or drafting one

No you're not drafting Allen at two based on who we already have, can still sign, and depth of position in the draft

Totally agree...at some point your gonna have to pay all those 1st rd picks and we need help at other positions as well.

They gave him a million more than Denver wanted to give him...its FA and your gonna overspend PLUS we are a bottom of the barrel team and WIll have to overpay to get anyone to come here right now.

It's sounding like a 1 yr deal and doesn't even touch the possible $100 million we could have in cap space...fine signing can never had enough DLs. OH and it doesn't count against comp picks next yr cause he was released.

Good smart signing, our DL coach had worked with him and I'm guessing they know more than us

I'd rather draft someone both are injury prone

Eh, rookies don't cost what they used to now that there's a cap. Also, were flush with cash and despite all the hate he gets, Paraage Marathe is a genius with working team friendly contracts.

We'll be fine.
