He's fine. He and DJ Jones are the NTs, it's a nice solid position, starter and backup, on the 49ers. It seems casual fans judge quality by how often the player is mentioned on TV.

I expect we carryover at least $35M, So we're looking at at least $70M right now, plus like you said with some of those guys, we can save a ton, unless Cassius Marsh balls out, his option won't be exercised. Coyle and Williams are bargains at those rates, they should be here in 2019 unless they get completely out played. Dekoda Watson is a toss up, he knows the system, and is a solid ST'er. Mitchell likely gets cut, or has to take a pay cut, I like Mitchell, but I also like DJ Jones a lot. Gilliam at $5.05M is ridiculous, but that's the beauty of how we structured his and Marsh's deals, no signing bonus, and easy out after 2018.

All I know is that we went from a historically bad run defense (so bad that I told friend pick up whatever RB for the team playing the 49ers in 2016) to actually looking like a professional team out there. With the improve offense and if Foster plays significantly this season, we can potentially be a top-10 run D.

Agreed, we had a better run defense in 2017, hope Foster only gets suspended 4 games, but if the DV was/is true, then he's a goner, I can't condone that, nor keep him as a 49er, it goes against everything I believe in, never lay your hands on a woman.

After spending time with the #Dolphins last week, free agent DT Terrell McClain is visiting the #49ers today, source said. Would be a solid late free agency add.

I love the fact we are always looking to get better on this football team. McClain wouldn't be a huge upgrade over Mitchell but he would be an upgrade IMO. Would be a real solid pick-up.

If that were true the 49ers wouldn't be sticking with Marsh and Armstead at Leo
How many DTs do the 49ers need?? I don't see McClain as an upgrade at all. McClain started 15 games in 2016 for Dallas came up with 21 tackles and 2.5 sacks Mitchell > McClain easy call IMO.

Uhh...McClain is a 3 tech with Mitchell at NT. I don't see how a McClain signing leads directly to Mitchell being replaced.
This is just competition for Day, Blair, and Taylor for the backup 3T and Big End spots in this scheme.
