DT Earl Mitchell thread

I like the signing, and it offers us some more proven talent along the line. I am still hoping we sign Poe or B. Williams to be our NT type DT on the strong side, or we better make sure we draft a BIG guy to project there. I think this D is going to attack all the time, and will rotate players in accordingly to situations and to their strengths. I like these first two signings, and hope we land 1` ELITE guy on D and hopefully a solid WR in FA.
Good signing, will provide solid depth for when AA goes on IR again after week 4.
According to PFF (ProFootballFocus), Against the run, where Miami struggled most of the season, Mitchell graded out at 34.2 and improved to 76 in pass rush.

Lol so many conflicting write ups! Again , I like the signing. He plays a position of need and was wanted by everyone we want to be like on defense (Sea, Den, Atl).
Even if this guy isn't that great he's a solid signing just like the nickel cornerback we signed. Both guys had 3 to 4 other options and you can't just say it's because the Niners offered the most money. Last year we threw or rather we assumed that we threw a lot of money at some of the free agents available and nobody came here. With Lynch and Shanahan like I said before, free agents will want to come here on offense and defense. The culture has already changed. They want to show the fans that we are serious about winning but we are also patient. We are going to be active in free agency as well because they want to show people they mean business. This is a good sign for us fans that have been waiting for that s**t for far too long.
I also like the front loading part. This is the strategy we need to do right now with all this cap space, to become and stay competitive going forward. Each year, Mitchell will get cheaper, so we maintain the quality player, while also freeing up cap space, while his contract goes down. This strategy opens up money to be able to get more in FA later, or to have the funds to keep your own guys.

I don't get the Buckner at strongside at all, compared to AA. AA seems to be more powerful, Buckner is more of an athlete and penetrator, is he?

Buckner is better against the run. You want the guy who is better against the run playing the 5 T. Unlike Red Bryant in Seattle however, Buckner actually offers some good pass rush ability as well which will allow him to be used in a more versatile fashion.
Sounds like an argument.

Zane Beadles?
Sorry but players play either for money or titles. Given that we won't be competitve immediately, it is more the money then. Anything else is of less importance.

Yeah for real with the conflicting reports. At this point we need testimony from a Dolphin fan. I am a bit scared of his age. I want FAs 27 and under, but oh well. Paraag probably has the contract set up in some way where if he's cut after 2 years it's little dead cap.
2 attempts, 2 signings. Its nice to be a desirable team to play for again.

Yeah I imagine they can part ways with him after 2 seasons with minimal dead money.
I wonder how active we are gonna be when free agency actually starts lol

If this is any indication, very active.

Definitely! If Paraag "stays in his lane" he's such an asset.

I don't mind the age thing too much. We need some vet presence that changes the tone in the locker room.
Agreed on Mitchells age not being a factor. He's still in his prime, and should be fine through out the 4 year deal, assuming he stays healthy.
