What if I want to call him a TE?

How do his salary and stats lineup with other TEs?

Not to be a downer, but $5M/yr for a fullback is cray cray. I really like Juzyzchyzch, but that price tag is insane.

He's not a fullback. He's a true halfback. He'll be lined up in the slot, at TE and in the backfield.

You really have no idea how Shanny uses his FB, what he asks of him. He's a blocking back and a second tight end on the field at the same time. This is a nightmare for Defenses. Shanny splits his FB out a lot. This guy is the best in the league at that.

Effectively that's what we did and that's why we're paying him $5m/yr instead of $2m/yr.

How we plan to use him is completely irrelevant to what he should be paid. That's the reality of the NFL pay scale, it's why Jimmy Graham fought so hard to be classified as a WR instead of TE because of how often he was split out wide.

Well Vance is on a 5 year $35 mil deal (thought to be more like 3 year $19.7 mil contract.)

Kyle got a 4 year $21 mil deal and he's got better receiving stats than Vance
best signing of the day

$5M/year is peanuts in today's NFL. Will this dude even be in our top 15 annual salaries once FA is over?

How can anyone be mad
A lot of you guys are underestimating the Juiceman. He and DiMarco are the top 2 FB's in the entire league and we ended up with one of them. 5 million is nothing for a top FB.

So we just paid the best FB in the league like he's the best FB in the league, destroying an entire 5% of our cap room, with no QB on the roster and nothing more than a promise of a good one down the road, and we're complaining about what exactly?
I was looking over his profile, he is a Harvard grad with a 37'' vert and was .02 less than Vance on his 40 who "stoned every linebacker in one-on-one blitzing drills at the Senior Bowl. His mentality: He can play fullback; he can play H-back. There's value." -- Mike Mayock

FB, H-back, TE, whatever Shanahan will know how to get the most out of him.

This guy is going to become a fan favorite very fast.

It's reckless overspending on a small scale. Like I said, these things add up if you do this for a handful of guys every year just to get who you want. We have all the cap room in the world right now, but who knows four years from now? We might need that extra $2m then.

Again, it's not the end of the world but I don't like that our brand new GM decided to blow up the existing pay scale for no clear justifiable reason other than to get his guy. I don't really have any doubt that Juice will justify his salary, the guy can obviously play and Shanny will get him the ball. It's just silly to break precedent when there is nothing to be gained from it.
Hell yesssssssssss
Call this guy......
