People feel that FB isn't such an important position. In Shanahan's offense, FB is very much so an important position. Shanny will get very creative in utilizing Juice. The guy deserves the money he is making. People will see how much of an impact Juice will make.

Now that is an unorthodox way to use the FB nowadays.

When an offense goes 11 or 12, it's usually a tailback in the backfield to give the threat of run and pass. Most defenses aren't going to be scared of a FB running routes out of the backfield or taking a handoff. That he was used in this way shows trust from the BAL coaches to blitz pickup and act as a threat out of the backfield.

2016: This is 3rd & 6 and Ju-Z is the lone RB in the backfield in 11 personnel. Red arrow is the LB assigned to cover him.
NE is in a Cover2 Man with a robber (rush 3)


LB gets picked while trying to get to the flat to cover.


He outruns a LB and sidesteps a safety.

The price seems a bit steep but I trust that Shanahan identified the need for a FB and that Lynch and him are convinced this guy will be a great fit.

That's just it, we will not have to do this every year ... and I don't understand why people aren't seeing this.
I see this, as a one-and-done type of an off-season. And I doubt seriously -- if things go according to plan --
that our FO will have to overpay -- in the same manner -- again any time soon.

I'd venture to say, there will be less FA money spent in year 2 of the re-build (2018-19 Season), and even less,
going into year three. As the franchise is now -- based on our FO's vision -- they have to repair the damage
done under Baalke. In the World of Professional Sport, it's done (at times) by paying more than you normally
would, to get the Player(s) You NEED.

I'm glad the team has the funds ... and we finally have a FO, which is able to recognise:

• where the team is deficient
• has a plan in place to fix the problem(s)
• has enough connections within the league, which helps to facilitate the plan
• and lastly, has the type of reputation others within the league respect

I really like this potential pickup. Watched the highlights dude is a beast.

Can anyone comment on his pass and run blocking skills? Has he and will he also be a lead blocker fro Hyde?

Here he is playing traditional FB.
Switch Verticals vs Fire Zone Blitz. The WR lined up at the bottom will take the deep 1/3 with him, leaving Ju-Z room to work a wheel type of route.
Addae is a safety that is 5'10 195 - most likely a pretty fast guy.


Red WR takes the 1/3 defender. Notice JuZ appear as though he wants to steer his route towards the flat. This puts Addae's weight on his heels.


JuZ turns it upfield and gets that much separation on a safety.


+39. At the 43 yard line, the way he stems into the safety then turns upfield is nifty for a 250 pounder. Normal FBs don't sidestep safeties in the open field, outrun LBs, and beat safeties vertically 1v1. This isn't a normal FB. He has the athleticism of an H-back.

Pass blocking he's a stud apparently. Run blocking is probably his weakest area - but still above average.

FB is equally as important in Shanahan's offense as it is in Jim Harbaugh's. Main difference is KS offense is a hell of a lot more creative than his.

When thl does cut ups of NFL film, my no no place gets tingly.
