ESPN hates our guts. Anyone who watches ESPN knows this.

It's because they don't know about the OW position and what the going rate for it is.

You guys are going to love this one

"The 49ers can afford to pay a premium for Juszczyk, but this sort of inability to read the market and value positional scarcity doesn't bode well for their future spending habits."

You don't have $121M in cap space by being irresponsible and not knowing the market. Paraag SETS the market.

Didn't Lynch say in the press conference that his price went way up because he had other suitors? Isn't that exactly how a free agent market works?

Yes but the reason why Lynch went for him was because he should be considered as an OW and not a FB.
Agreed on the OW aspect. If Juice were to only play FB, then I could understand it being a pricey tag for him if that were his only role, even though he's the best FB in the league. BUT that's not his only role, he'll line up at HB, he'll line up at TE, and even as WR in some formations. If Juice continues to be a stud blocker, and gets in the 50 ish receptions this year, then he'll be well worth every penny that he's getting paid.

The other good aspect of getting him, is that it shows other FA's that we are willing to pay top dollar for you, and that we're serious about rebuilding this team to its former glory.

The ability to play more than one position increases his value

The 49ers could have easily signed DiMarco for a lot less but he doesnt give you anywhere near the versatility that Juszczyk does.

If you look at him solely as a FB, it is a bad deal. If you look at him as a guy who can play all over the field and will give defenses fits, he is good value.

To put it in perspective, he will be earning around the same amount as the corpse of Vernon Davis is earning in Washington.

This guy will be our beat Swiss army knife since Delanie Walker
PHX: "as the corpse of vernon Davis" ...Post of the day so far.

Doesn't take away from the fact that Jusczyk was that pick from out of nowhere that just made my day.
