You know having the money is only half the battle. Right? Getting people to sign is the other half. People aren't lining up to play for a two win team that had no qb on the team, literally no qb and are embarking on a full rebuild. Most of the free agents that the team did get were guys connected to the coaching staff or Lynch. We were lucky to get the amount that we did.
Juice is arguably the best fullback in the league. He is a great lead blocker who can excel in the passing game. The 49ers paid a premium price for him on the open market because that's what bad teams have to do to get good free agents to play for them. His catching totals are down because in Baltimore he was used on third downs. Here they obviously feel that Breida and Hyde are better third down options. He's still made a very good impact in the running game. Dude has been a legit beast on the field in the running game already and keyed several nice run blocks.
Right now he's doing the things that aren't showing up in the box score or the sexy stats department but he's still made an impact regardless. As far as his receptions total, it's only four games in. Let's wait and watch the next twelve before getting too worked up on his passing game usage. It's a long season.
