There was no way that Juice is going to live up to his contract as a FB. I'd say half of his catches in BAL were from being their 3rd down back. Sometimes the catch resulted in a first down, other times it was Flacco checking down to get some yardage before punting (meaningless yards). I don't think Juice is a dominating lead blocker, just "better than adequate" imo. The unique skill he brings to the FB position is that he is capable of threatening downfield vs a LB, and can make open field tacklers miss on occasion. Not enough to warrant a salary that is so far ahead of the #2 paid FB, but how else does a rebuilding team acquire FAs besides overpaying them.

Now that we have a real qb we should see less of him and see a real offensive weapon being used.

We talking about a FB though not a real playmaker. His skill isn't unique.

This. When we are in a position to open up the offense, I think Juice will do a little more in this offense.

Yup.I expect that we will think differently about him next year. And we did overpay... But what are you going to do in the situation we were in? Crappy teams have to pay more in FA.

Am I missing something? Weren't there other teams that wanted to sign him? Wouldn't that and our previous record drive his price up? I think you have to wait for his career in Sanfrancisco to come to an end before you determine whether he was worth x amount of dollars.
Maybe he is paid more than a FB normally gets. Maybe he puts out more on the field at the end of the day than another FB might. Maybe not. Still as fans we have to let things play out. I think in theory it sounds great so I'm willing to wait before I judge the move. Knowing that regardless of what I want it's John and Kyle that makes the decisions.

Ouch!
No one knew 49ers FB Kyle Juszczyk played 3 quarters + OT with 2 broken transverse processes in his back, a fractured rib, and a hematoma — until now. He's healthy again and ready to play some more slot receiver: https://t.co/MzFyfzEdW3
