They knew what to do. They just brain farted going with hoyer and bethard.

We had/have to overpay for guys, coaches and all, otherwise they won't risk coming here due to the unpredictable ownership.

You honestly thought, they didn't know what to do with him? You think the offense scheme wise significantly changed under Jimmy? We did use 21 personnel a little more, but the concepts weren't any different. Instead, they finally got a QB that worked the progressions and concepts.

Cc should stop hearing others and just listen to you?

Yes, because competent starting QBs who are familiar with KS's system grow on trees and there were so many options available to them.

Love how Marquise (I think) is signalling first down. This team was really pulling for each other down the stretch.

They really screwed up with Hoyer.

In hindsight, Aaron Rodgers would have been a far better signing.

What about front loaded contracts do people not understand here? Over all they are probably over paying some people, but if they front load while the team has available CAP, then the only one that needs to worry about it is Jed and the York's. It isn't our money, and I think they can afford it. CAP wrangling will take on a new meaning in a few years for sure, but the 49ers will probably have turned this into a desirable destination again by then. So I would think the free agents lure and signings will come easier, and require less money.

As bad as things were, didn't we have a 5 game losing streak, with only 6 point differential...or some crap like that?

Imagine if Hoeye had won those games...we might not have traded for Jimmy!

So, yeah, Goyer was exactly the right QB!

Still would have traded for Jimmy. Hoyer was still nothing more than a 32 year old stop gap signing.

We would have had a new QB either way. If not Jimmy, then Kirk was in Shanny's cross-hairs

Might have passed on Jimmy, hoping for Cousin...that was the plan.

Doubtful.

Kirk was no sure thing to land in FA, whereas trading for Jimmy assured us a QB. At the time we also had no way of knowing whether Washington might try to tag him again.

That's why I used the word "might" in my post...😉

BB was the one who called at the deadline, not us, so that assurance has to take a step back also.

KC wasn't going to get franchised
