He's gonna miss more games. I just hope he's back for the playoffs if we make it.
That's what I'm hoping

I predicted 2-4 games myself. But they aren't disclosing the exact injury so it's hard to say.
George Kittle (knee, ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. He did, however, offer up some hope that he could soon return. The Pro Bowl tight end escaped the media in the 49ers locker room before practice, smiled, and simply said, "Close, guys."
Close enough to play on Sunday? We'll have to see how the rest of the week goes.
Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group noted that Kittle didn't have a significant limp, which is certainly good for the tight end and the 49ers.

MRI came back clean. He's knee is probably sore as s**t along with dealing with a low-ankle sprain. I'm not gonna call it "load management" but the team is 8-1 we need him healthy for the playoffs and such.

Yeah, probably just stretched ligaments/tendons, sprain...swelling the big part as all the muscles tighten up to protect it. Gotta be careful with a quad, calf and hamstring pull once he comes back.
I know Kyle said it was a "much bigger injury" than they first thought so got a little worried there might be a partial tear.

Unlike last week, there was a Kittle sighting in the 49ers' locker room. He walked — without a limp — from the training room to his locker and picked up a bag but declined to stop and talk to reporters.
"Close, guys," he said before disappearing down a hallway.
Originally posted by sacniner:It did? Who said that? Ian Rappoport was the only one who reported that immediately, based on info he was fed from the Niners. And from what I remember, he basically reported that they didn't find anything "major" (like an ACL).
A beat reporter (I think Biederman or MM) asked Kyle during the presser leading up to the Monday Night game about the MRI and he said they found "things" during the MRI or something.
I don't see any real intel from the MRI or specifics on the injury. Please share if you have other intel. Watt we do know is that this injury was more serious than initially led on, and the Niners are being coy on it. I hope they get a competitive advantage because of it. Surprising that the beat writers here couldn't get any info.
From what I've seen, only me and NC got this right. We both predicted this was a significant injury and he would miss significant time. NC was a little gentle about it

When it comes to injuries it doesn't make sense for us fans to speculate on when a player will come back or when he should come back. None of us really knows how bad these guys are hurt. Even the coaches never know for sure. It's up to the player to say when he's ready and up to the coaches and physician to decide if it's safe for him to return.
Originally posted by NinerGM:Don't count on it. I don't think Kittle is going to play and honestly, we have enough to beat the Cards if we FIX the problems we had on offense like - making sure that Jimmy and WRs are on the same page and getting Jimmy to release the ball and not hold it (as much). If drops are a problem, emphasize it in practice. I surmise we just aren't used to being a passing team and now that we must be one, they have to learn how to become one again. From a play-calling perspective, it also means Kyle needs to get more creative and not have Jimmy just drop back in the same spot every play (7 steps) and just throw. Screens, check-downs to backs, etc. I've seen Kyle do it. There's more than one way to keep up and the defense should be a lot better against the Cards given they've rested and have a lot more to prove and should be PISSED they lost on Monday.
I'd rather have Kittle sit and be 100% for Green Bay than be 50% and re injure himself against at team we SHOULD be able to beat without him.
There's been some question about what "close, guys" meant. Kittle was playfully jabbing reporters saying they were close to getting him to talk for the first time since the injury on Halloween. It wasn't a reference to how close he was to returning. https://t.co/N5C1ZETut9
