Chris Biderman on the candlestick chronicles podcast today said Kittle told him he expected to play against the cardinals and he expects to play against Green Bay. But the end of the day it's not up to him

Me too. But Shanny likes to keep everyone in the dark. I get why, still sucks for us fans. Go Kittle Go Niners. If he plays and healthy we win. If not this game becomes a lot scarier.

Alex S. asks via Twitter: Why is the team being so secretive about George Kittle's injury? Usually Shanahan is up front with injuries.
Yeah, it's a bit weird. I don't know the reason. It will be something to ask when Kittle is fully healthy. But it is out of character. Suffice to say, his injury requires a lot of rest. Some have speculated — due to the contact his left knee made against an opponent's helmet — that Kittle suffered a bone bruise, which is a significant injury that is treated by curbing physical activity, i.e., rest.
As far as Kittle's timeline for returning to action, I wouldn't start the clock until he appears in a practice. And that hasn't happened yet. It's just been light — very light — rehab so far.
If it's a bone bruise, this article details what that really means, calling it essentially a "microscopic fracture" when it's that deep, and is typically a one-month recovery at minimum for most players. With Kittle, it's certainly possible he could push it a week early, but the team has repeatedly said they need him to be good long term. So, I would not be surprised if they wait for that 4-week mark and do not play him until Baltimore. Based on the article below, I do not want Kittle on the field until fully healed, due to the potential for long-term complications (see article link below).

"A bone bruise cannot be trivialized. One cannot just take pain medicine and ignore the symptoms. Despite Roethlisberger's ironman reputation, he can't just play through it. Edema or swelling in the bone can lead to complications and articular cartilage loss if not careful.
What is a bone bruise? It is not a simple contusion that is treated with ice and managed symptomatically. A deep bone bruise is essentially a microscopic fracture, much like a ligament sprain is a microscopic tear. I am not suggesting it is a true fracture that needs surgery or casting, but there is compromise to the integrity of the bone in order to get the swelling/fluid inside the bone."

Keep it quiet and then have Kittle lead the team out of the tunnel with a fat wrestling belt on and run by Rodgers doing the discount double check.

Guess him playing all depends on if the swelling is gone or not.

If the knee is swollen there is no amount of adrenaline that will unlock the knee. It's merely a mechanical issue. The knee literally can't bend in that state. There's no amount of willpower, desire or strength that will overcome that. It's like trying to move a finger that doesn't exist.

Yes, but they wouldn't even let him hit the practice field in a limited fashion if he was still in that risk window. The primary issue is swelling around the joint which is not easily treated with an injection. They will slowly ramp up his movement to see how his knee responds the following morning. I would imagine they'll give him a pretty extensive workout on Friday or Saturday and see what the next morning looks like before making a final decision on Sunday.
It's true that not all bone bruises are created equal. But they can see pretty clearly how he is healing on imaging.

im not talking about going forward im talking about how it was during the game where he sustained it and how he was able to play.

I am as well. The knee was swelling as the game went on. That's why he couldn't move as well in the 4th quarter.

If he practices this week at all, he will play.
Will be nice to have Kittle and Sanders on the field at the same time for this matchup.
Seattle really got lucky we didn't have ONE of them. We would be 10-0.
