I like Dwelley but having a Delanie Walker type blocking H back would do wonders for this team.
Dwelly is a pretty good #2.
I'm fine with Kittle and Dwelly. Just need to make sure they are healthy and maybe have a serviceable #3 that could come in if one of those 2 go down.
As a receiver he's fine. But he's horrific as a blocker on the line of scrimmage and we're seeing that affect our run game.
I don't know if he's horrific - maybe an average blocker at best.
Please bring Kittle back to us

.@49ers rushing attack is dying a slow painful death without the services of @gkittle46 . No one can effectively block the edges like Kittle. #BaldysBreakdowns pic.twitter.com/wfxc7PgFXv

Like I said... he has been pretty bad blocking on the line of scrimmage. Him blocking as a FB has been fine but he's not gonna be asked to do that much now with Juszczyk back. KS offense needs versatile players to really make it go and I think Dwelley is perfect #3 TE but not what we need as a 2.

Is he more suited as a #2 than Dwell?
I ask because he's been out all year and now he's back. Maybe he gets the #2 back

Jalen Hurd can be that H-back, so don't forget him. Unfortunately, he's also injured. Maybe he's too aggressive and got his back injured because of it. Hopefully he can dial that aggressiveness down and stay healthy once he gets back on the field. Jalen Hurd, Dwelly and Kittle would be a formidable trio (nevermind Deebo and Sanders) if Hurd can ever get healthy.

Agree, I think the reason we've not seen more Boot plays by Jimmy when Kittle is out is because to sell the boot action, you have to have a credible run attack with the TE as the lead blocker. When the 49ers run to Dwelly's side, maybe they aren't having as much success and so the boot action won't be bought by the defense. Hence that's why - I think - Kyle's dialed back those TE boot actions.

Toilolo is a good blocker, Dwelley is a good receiver and can fill in at FB in a pinch if Juice gets hurt mid-game.

Just regarding Dwelly's skill set. Will he ever be a good blocker? I distinctly remember Brent Jones being a very average blocker, but he was an awesome TE. I'm wondering if anybody has any clue if Dwelley can be a Brent Jones type of blocker. Brent was never an overpowering blocker, but he did a good job of basically position blocking and just getting in the way of his blocking assignment. Brent turned out to be (I think) an all pro TE and was very productive for Mike Shanahan when he was with us.

So basically we don't have a backup that is a true replacement for Kittle. We have a pass catcher and a blocker but not one who can do both well like Kittle.

Agreed. Dwelley is a nice piece, but we need our #1 offensive weapon back.

Kyle should have an update later after practice.
