I read broken bone in a ankle is 4-8 week recovery time. Playing today would put him at 23 days since the AZ game.
Guy is an absolute warrior. He played 2+ quarters with a broken ankle. Insane

I think the article needs more detail. A broken bone seems unwalkable. Maybe a cracked bone is a better description ?
Doesn't matter if it's a hairline or a compound fracture - both are still technically broken bones. People walk around on hairline fractures all the time.
That's my point. The details are important, not just the basic diagnosis.
Just like saying my car was in an accident. Big difference between a ding and being totalled.

It can't be a serious break and it might not be one of the more critical weight bearing bones. They must not think it's in danger of getting worse or he wouldn't be playing.

Maybe the Niners' are doing it to have GB devote time preparing for him. Then trot him out for a couple of snaps and sit him the rest of the time. That would be wise.
Not wise to risk long term gains for a short-term, less than full strength, benefit. Risk Kittle having a chronic ankle problem. Dewelly is not a bad substitute.
How this game goes depends on the defense. Packer's defense isn't so awesome that it requires all of the Niners' superstars. Critically, Garappolo needs to show steady improvement. The offensive line needs to play sound football. And the Niner's should be good.
Rest up the stars. They should definitely have all their weapons ready for the Saints. A far more fearsome challenge.

Bruh that would not be wise. Let him play a few snaps and risk further injury just so you hypothetically waste GB's time? Not to mention you say we don't need stars to beat GB so why even risk it?

Not sure how in the world he plays even if it's a hairline fracture. Especially the ankle but he wouldn't be out there if not medically cleared. I still don't like it.

Hairline fractures themselves generally heal in 4 weeks. It has been 3.5

Yes, I agree. Your approach would seem the wiser one to me also.
I'm just speculating. It would seem smarter to create the impression that he'll play and then just sit him on the sidelines.
Maybe that's the plan. Let's see.

If it was a factured ankle, why was he not in a walking boot this whole time?

Because it wasn't.
He probably had a small hairline fracture or chip. Nothing major.

George Kittle played on Oct. 31 with a broken bone in his ankle, per @adamschefter.

Leave it to Schefty to sensationalize the headline.

Yep or "bone spurs". That and Kittle is one of the tough ones in this day and age. Rare nowadays with some of these pussies crying and sitting out over stuff we'd rub dirt on back in the days
