What ... the throw went straight through his hands.

People will point to his production on select games. But he's an average TE through and through. You can plop any middling TE into this offense with Garoppolo and he'd do just as well as Kittle. He isn't Kelce, nor Gronk. He's not above average. He's just a dude. I hope he can get his hands right. This was an issue last year. We need an upgrade here in the offseason.
How can anyone say he's average? One of the top statistical performances of any rookie tight end last year while battling injuries and it wasn't just because of Jimmy.
First game in year two and he has almost 100 yards. Was missed by Jimmy wide open in the end zone. And the "drop" on second look could be argued as an overthrow. Even still, those things happen. Even Gronk doesn't haul in 100 percent of plays like that one. To bash him and say he's average after his first game in year two -- a productive one at that where he led the team in catches and yards -- and considering all other facts, just seems wildly premature.. But that's just me..

I agree.
He's okay for now. We could do much better.

I think he will do well with Jimmy, no doubt. What I'm talking about are "special" traits. He has none. He is not easily replaced midseason. But he can be in the offseason. I would imagine the Niners let his rookie contract play out and focus on another TE option at that time.

Uh, for the doubters, name many better TE's picked in the last 3 years? You could say Evan Engram (but he can't block), how many others? It's a position that takes time to develop, and he was a 5th round pick! Chill out and let the kid grow, OJ Howard and David Njoku are having the exact same (if not more) issues, and they were 1st rounders

What's even funnier is saying it was a bad throw and making excuses for a bone headed play by an injury prone back up at bestOriginally posted by OnTheClock:Originally posted by Young2Rice:In his defense of the drop the throw could have been better.
Would be nice if we had a gif of the play to look at again. Hilarious that everyone is not only crapping on the most productive player in the game on Sunday because of one missed catch, they are actually giving up on his career already after one season in the NFL, despite his numbers. Lmao
George Kittle's drop felt like the turning point of the game for the #49ers. What should've been a game-tying touchdown quickly became a 14-point lead for the #Vikings, with Jimmy Garoppolo's pick-six on the next play.
