Trent Taylor is my candidate to be the surprise contributor to a win over the Seahawks. He's ready. He's back from a two-season injury layoff and is ready to turn some heads and surprise a few people. He doesn't have Deebo's bulk, but he does have his speed. I wouldn't be surprised to see Taylor used on end-around running plays against Seattle. I don't think the Seahawks will have game-planned for this.
I'm all for it but the way Jimmy has been throwing the ball, Trent is going to need to take a 6ft ladder out on the field with him every play if he's going to contribute.
Trent Taylor was our most promising and exciting of young receivers when Shanahan and Lynch made the trade for Jimmy G. He had some big games for the 49ers in the final 4-5 weeks, when the 49ers improved rather dramatically. He hasn't been given a chance yet to flash the skills we all witnessed a few seasons ago in an all-too-brief audition. But the 49ers aren't rushing this guy back, either.
There's a reason why Taylor is still on the squad. He can still contribute. He still flashes the same quickness he showed two seasons ago when he became Jimmy G.'s go-to-guy initially. Anytime the 49ers needed to convert a third down, Taylor got the ball.
He's been waiting patiently for his shot again. With Deebo's injury, the door may have swung open. We'll see.
