Taylor (5-8, 181), the 49ers' fifth-round pick this spring from Louisiana Tech, is among the most intriguing of the group. He led college football with 136 receptions for 1,803 yards and figures to compete for time in the slot.

He's small and slow in a straight line but has proven to be a tough cover throughout San Francisco's offseason program. He regularly finds himself open in one-on-one coverage and in the soft spots of zone defenses.

"There's plays that are designed to go (Taylor's) way," LaFleur said. "He has to beat that man-to-man. If he beats it, the ball's coming his way. There's a lot of plays that he's designed to get a (linebacker) to step up, if the 'backer doesn't step up, he finds a way to get the ball and he gets yards.

"No matter what route he was running, the ball was always coming his way and he was finding ways to make plays. That's what stuck out for us."

Ive wanted a wr like this ever since welker broke out in the league.

Finally!!

Wanna see 4 WR sets with Kerley and Taylor in the slots. Or a trips formation with Kerley and Taylor in that bunch.
Run and Gun with the 4 WRs and startle the league as we re-invent the game.

Yeah and I have a soft spot for guys like Taylor who "aren't supposed to be" big enough or fast enough but get it done through effort and heart. I mean, he's still got plenty to do but it's good to hear he's conspicuous on the training paddock for the right reasons.

Taylor will get 400+ yards this year. I remember a quote from a coach talking about him, and it sounded like they expect him and IMO will be beating the opposing teams backup slot CB in 4 WR sets . Kerley and others should give him some nice matchups. If he wins those, that's big for our offense. We need to squeeze the most juice out of everyone.
Welker, Amendola, Edelson. Some not very big guys who came up "BIG". LIke everyone else, i have been waiting for a guy like this . It would sure be nice if Taylor is the one. Have to admit, tho, Kerley, with virtually nobody to throw to him...he did himself proud this past yr.
Im looking forward to seeing Kerley and Taylor on the field together and slicing up the cawks.
We got spped to burn now.

Loving that article. this guy is someone to root for. Hope he makes it.
I've had a good feeling about him since the draft. He was great at Louisiana Tech and we have the same last name lol.

By, "re-invent the game," did you mean, "copy what the Patriots have done for years"?

I read the article on what his old coach said about him. If I recall, the coach said (paraphrasing), "Everyone says any quick, white receiver coming out of college is the next Welker, but Taylor legitimately is and will be that guy."
High Praise indeed. He has got all the intangibles. Lets hope he also has that immeasurable thing that is called HEART as well.

Well they kind of stole it from us.

Sure, you never fully re-invent the game, you only ever tweek it but it can look ILLUMINARY because it can lead to Greatness.

You build on the Collective knowledge of Mankinds existence and then lean back through history to find something; anything that can give you that extra 5%

There are only so many plays and so many patterns.

It is the execution that leads to success or failure for every franchise.

And that is what I mean by re-invent the game.

Short cuts to success 101.

Execution is re-invention.

Take what Mankind knows; and look back through history to try and find where something someone has done could be re-appraised and then have that "light bulb" moment of your own.

And wake up at 3AM in the morning and shout out OH MY GOD!!! or YUREAKA!

and then while your wife or partner or lover is sleeping next to you, grab a pen and paper and write it all down.

then go back to sleep.

and HOPE and PRAY that when you wake up in the morning; it all makes sense and it all still sounds like some sort of Genius and hasn't turned to Gobbledegook.

that is how ideas happen.

that is how you Tweek or Yes;

Re-invent the game.
