Really? Vegas picks us for 4.5 Ws...

5 wins sounds right. I'd have a range of +- 2.

We did upgrade several areas but it will be another season when we address two of the most critical positions on defense and get a big time WR & RB. Hoyer can probably be serviceable until whoever we draft is ready or we luck out and get cousins.

Either way we are 2-3 off seasons away from being really good.

No offence to the guy who posted this topic, but I will trust the Vegas odds more than your love for the 49ers biased opinion. As mentioned above, 4.5 wins is more than double what we got last year. We have a massive hole in the most important position in football, the QB, and have a 1st time HC and GM running the team.

Say what you want about how they "crushed the draft, A+", but we don't know anything until a few years pass. Thomas could be an average role player across the D-Line and Foster could have surgery again and be in and out of the line up for the next 2-3 years. Or they could both get arrested tomorrow and never play. So who knows about any of these rookies.

Fact remains is our team has little talent across the board compared to most other teams, we are likely 3rd within our own division, and 4-5 wins would be expected. Now I of course hope we get 16 wins.

Every year a team will win a bunch more games than expected, and teams will lose a bunch more than expected. Lets just hope we somehow overachieve this year. But if you asked me to bet a bunch of cash that 49ers would get 5+ wins, I wouldn't be confident in that bet at all. B. Hoyer at QB. End of story.
Eff this thread. Bunch of Nostradamus azz wannabes lol. We had 45/1 odds to win the SB in 2011... we all know we had a damn good shot to win it that year too. Lions we're 100/1 odds and made the playoffs.

ya, sometimes they get it wrong, but most of the time they are right. there's a reason why every year vegas covers at leas 55% of sports bets.

Yup and in 2011 we knew we had some ballers like Gore, willis, crabs, VD, justin smith, and lee for example. That team got 7 wins iirc in 2010 with coach pants down.

That type of HOF talent is not present on this team, or at least not that we know. We have some potential though and a new regime so we'll probably improve a bit, but unless lynch just hit a major homerun, we'll be thought of as a bottom dweller for at least this year.

Yeah, I'm hoping we can bite, scratch, and claw our way to 6 wins. I will see that as real progress.
4-12 IMO
As bad as the defensive coaching was, with a weak roster, and pathetic offensive roster, we seemed to hold a lead at the half fairly often last year. I think the smart money gets in on 4.5 before the line moves to 5.

Oh, and last year we had one of the hardest schedules in the league, and this year, its a little softer, so yeah, Vegas baby, put some cash down!
I'm not complaining as this is a fantastic number for us bettors out there.
Besides the fact that this is my team I will gladly take the over on this bet.
If we think we can win more than 4.5, then we can all clean up in Vegas.

Who did you bet with and what's the payout? I want some of this action.

Our defense is going to be significantly better simply because Chip's offense is out of town. Hoyer is much better than anything we've seen in a while. He really impressed me in Cleveland. I'm not going to be crazy optimistic, but 5 or 6 wins should be expected.

Depends on the commission (vig / vigorish) at whichever casino or bookie you go with...

if it's still -110 over / under 4.5, you'll put up $110 to win $100. If it states even (ev), then $200 to win $200 (even money)

I'd take the under for sure.
