Agreed. The red helmets are just too plain (even with just a silver stripe) and would make the team look too much like the Chiefs (or Alabama/Oklahoma).
The silver ("white gold") helmets at least still have the red-white-red striping and red oval "SF" logo which are all hallmarks of the 49ers look, despite having a different helmet shell color. Again, a pearlescent silvery helmet shell color would pair well with the 1994 throwback uniforms with the white pants, IMO

While true, it is a color the team has historically worn.
I'd rather they do something like that then those godawful black uniforms.
