Too cowboyish...but we'll get used to them

I'm already used to it. But, I still don't understand why they can't squeeze on more stripe in there.

Give the entire set a more uniform, for lack of a better term, look.

No, your right - it gives it a uniform look. Now, to just get them to add it to the socks.

Stripes on the socks, white pants for 3 or 4 games a year, white shoes....

pick two of the three, and the uniform is perfected.
This isn't a current uniform thing, but I finally figured out why the numbers on our 1996 uniforms were different.

They were transitioning from Wilson to Reebok in the offseason after the 1995 season. Since you have to prepare in advance for a uniform redesign, Wilson had been preparing the numbers for the new jerseys the year before, so the 49ers had all the pre-made Wilson numbers, in Wilsons own style, ready to go. Reebok ended up winning the contract for 1996-98, but since the 49ers already had the Wilson (rounded) numbers, they used those.

Towards the middle of the season as jerseys needed replacing, or new players were added, the boxy Reebok numbers started getting mixed in with the others. By the end of the year and playoffs, most players had the Reebok numbers.

I think in the preseason they were also experimenting with some players wearing '94 style numbers (no serifs on 1, 4, 7, angular 2) tho they still had the gold trim. IIRC, Elvis Grbac wore a jersey in that style where the "1" didn't have a bottom serif.
I dont like the 2 stripes. Maybe if they were smaller and not so close to the nike swoosh. It just doesn't look clean and looks too cluttered

They look terrible. WTF was Nike thinking? They're too wide and too spaced. Looks exactly like Ohio State. They dont even look like Niner jerseys because of it. Just thin the stripes, space them a bit and add a 3rd in the middle.
The 2 stripes look dope af way better than the zebra stripes we had

Yeah, though I prefer the 3 stripes, this new 2 stripe version is 100% better than the zebra stripes of the last couple of years.

I am with you mayo

100% upgrade.

I will tell you after We see how many wins they get this year if they should keep them though.

The two stripes actually make sense, considering the stripes on the helmet and pants. Its a good look for sure.

Yeah, I like it, too. Makes everything look uniform.

The 49ers have always used 3 stripes. Its their signature look. 2 stripes is Nebraska and Ohio State. Not sure how this looks "just right".

Itd be easy to fix with a 3rd stripe.

I was saying the size of the 2 stripes was just right. One of the posters felt they looked too big. I was just saying it looked just right.
