Only five men in NFL history have thrown for 5,000 yards in a season, the first going back to 1984, and only one more than once. Last season, Kirk Cousins threw for 4,917 yards.
Total yards is a meaningless stat. Drew Bledsoe threw for a s**t ton of yards, and he was mediocre as mediocre gets. I get that you believe in Kirk, but I think that's naive. JMO.
Naive: The guy that would bet on a guy that only last year almost achieved what only five human beings have achieved in the history of the league, all with little help from the run game to keep defenses honest against the pass, and with no superstar receivers.
Not Naive. The guy that would bet on a guy that has only started 13 games, all in a much lesser league, and who has never taken a single snap against the speed, talent, complexity, or scheming of an NFL defense.
Dang, I've got a lot to learn. I'm going to start by looking up the meaning of "naive" in the dictionary.
In 14 seasons, Bledsoe broke 4,000 yards three times. Cousins did it each of the last two, which is every year he played in more than 6 games.
