no doubt we need that FQB. question worth consideration is: what, exactly, makes a FQB?
Yea if this thread is gpong tp turn intp an argument about whether trubisky or cousins will help us more, or neither will help us very much, then can we just re-title this thread?I mean who knows about trubisky, and cousins is not the guy that I am loving for franchise qb.

Trade for Rogers, or Big Ben, discuss if prescott or mariota or winston could break out for us, argue about that.

The voracity with which you defend your "track record" is totally not exposing your sensitive ego and your need for attention.

I'm not the one who brought up my track record on QBs (Cook & Trubisky). I just wanna talk about how silly it is to believe Kirk Cousins is gonna win a SB. You seem to want to make it about me for some reason.

I get it, man. I'm butthurt the Niners suck so badly, too. I'm just not delusional enough to think Kirk is gonna save the team.

The fact that you even felt the need to address is it telling.

All that aside, nobody is saying Kirk is gonna save the team. People are saying that a guy like Kirk might be a great fit on a team with a stout defense, speed on offense, and coaching that knows how to maximize potential.

Now you obviously disagree with a lot of that statement on a fundamental level but you fail to support your argument with anything other than hyperbole or exaggeration.
Harold sucks
Carradine sucks
Barkley sucks
Ellington sucks
Bell sucks
Tartt sucks
Reid sucks
We have 1 cb
Our WRs are nothing special
Niners still wearing yellow pants instead of gold

If Kirk isn't gonna save the team, then what's the friggn' plan? At least paying out the nose for a "meh" QB is some sort of direction to take the team (a dumb one, but at least it's a direction).

I guess the plan is someone else will save the team. That's the plan.

Which is why I say the team has no plan.

I'm down with getting a FQB via draft or FA

Why is he a meh QB? Most of his stats state otherwise...I got no problem going to the draft for a QB but I'll take Kirk who's a high end NFL starter that knows this system. We got a s**t load of money and no one to give it to.

The plan is not for any one person to save the team.

The plan is for consistent, solid, and principled decision-making over the long haul to lead to a long-term but sustained success and relevance. Case in point, the Golden State Warriors under Joe Lacob. Drafting Curry in 2007, firing Don Nelson and hiring Mark Jackson, trading Monta Ellis for Andrew Bogut, courting Jerry West, drafting Harrison Barnes, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson, signing Andre Iguoudala, hiring Steve Kerr.

It wasn't any one of those decisions, but the sum of them and the steady, collective, and smart approach that went into making all of them.

Plus, the Warriors are right accross the Peninsula from Santa Clara. Jed's tried to make comparisons to them in the past (Jim Tomsula is our Steve Kerr). It's not hard to put two and two together and see that Jed wants to be like them. The good news for us fans is that John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan are much more likely than Trent Baalke and Chip Kelly to compare to Lacob, Meyers, and Steve Kerr.

That's my take anyways and that seems to be what most 49ers fans have picked up on as well. Time will tell, but I for one am comfortable being optimistic for the first time in a long time.

Yes, quarterback is definitely more important than any position on your team, but if you are counting on a QB to save you, rather than developing your own talent than history shows you won't last long in the nfl.

Nope. It's the "dumb" one, but I think we know for a fact Kyle Shanahan has a different assessment of that plan than yours.

That sounds like a great plan.

What? I'm gonna go ahead and guess that the only year of baseball you've watched in your life was when MadBum basically carried the Giants to a World Series.

Is that all you got or are you not going to address the rest of my argument?

The rest of your argument is a non-sequitur. You're putting a QB saving the team in opposition to developing the rest of the team's talent. Those 2 things are not mutually exclusive.

You have to get a franchise QB. Or bye bye Super-Bowl hopes.

...And by the way, I haven't watched baseball since I was a kid. No salary cap made the sport into a joke, IMO.
