all is great, until this shanahan / lynch project starts losing games. We'll be calling for Lynch's head in 3 years.

We have a 1 win team (only beat one team). Alex Smith and many other QB's are a perfect example to not draft a QB #1 unless he is hands down the best player in the draft.
I am very skeptical about our offense. Love the talent on our defense but our offense...we only have 4 players on offense that could be considered top 5-10 NFL players at their positions: Hyde, Juice, T. Brown, J. Staley.
I feel our OL will struggle much more than we think. They are going through a major shift in style and fundamentals and we don't even know if some are built for it. But that is the main reason it is a good thing we didn't spend a high pick on a QB.

So let me get this straight...
The 49ers don't have no plan or leadership because they didn't think Trubisky is a franchise QB worth the #2 pick?
What happens if they did think he was a franchise QB and picked him #2 overall and he became a BUST and set our franchise back 2-3 years. Surely you wouldn't complain then right?

Some will call for his head in 2 or 3 games.

Having a "negative" thread on a sports Forum is redundant.

It's a 2 to 3 yrs rebuild...baalke left this team in shambles. The only good thing he did was leave SF with a s**t ton of cap space.
Realistic fans should know it's gonna take time...the ones screaming for his head need to stick to madden imo.

But Baalke had a 3 year plan....I agree I fully expect a 3 win team this year and the improvement to start happening next year.

Dump harbs, make tomsula the future, and draft a ton of ACL/ project players OH and spend nothing in FA....hell of a 3 yr plan lol.
I agree I'm expecting some moving after this season...it's all gonna come down to finding that FQB.

Agreed,
It's going to take time, so when we spend these years rebuilding we cannot afford to f**k it up again..
It's not Shanny's or Lynch's fault our GM was a hoarder of cow dung. They deserve their time to clean up.
It's going to be a while, next year we might get our franchise Qb.

I agree, next year should be strictly to position ourselves in the draft to get our FQB.

Passing on a sub-par QB with 13 games of experience doesn't equal "no direction" and I think for the first time in a couple yrs we actually have direction.
Just because we didn't draft who you like doesn't mean they don't know what they are doing....most would agree that the QB class was trash this yr and Kirk along with what is looked at as a far superior QB class in 2018 might be the smarter move for a total rebuild.
Kyle has improved every single offense he's been apart of and that's a fact. You call him a choke-artist, I see someone that wanted to put the game to bed. That ATL D gave up 570 yards and couldn't stop a nosebleed in the 2nd half. That 2nd half ATL avg 2.6 per carry, NE stopped the run. AND his 3rd down play was the correct call cause he got them in FG distance if not for the holding call...takes a whole team to win a game not just a OC. Freeman doesn't whiff on a pass block, Ryan throws a ball away, Coleman doesn't get hurt, no holding call, ATLs D makes a damn stop etc that game is different.
Putting Mitch on a pedestal, yet poo pooing on the current college QB's or a guy like Kirk WHO HAS actually done something in the NFL is a joke imo.
I got no problem with the yin and yang threads cause we do need to talk about both sides...this thread sounds like sour grapes too me though.
sounds like some whining because we didn't get josh McDaniels or Mitch.
Exactly!
Here are the facts or at least the common belief
Cleveland was picking #1 overall with their biggest need being QB - they passed on Trubisky
Most people considered this a weak QB class
Most people felt next year's class has the makings of being really special
Kyle Shanahan knows offense
Kyle Shanahan didn't think Trubisky was worth drafting at #2
What makes more sense....49ers had no plan by passing on Trubisky or they had a plan by taking a trade everyone praised them for to take a kid who can be a great defender while giving themselves a great chance to find a QB next year either in a free agent class which can have Kirk Cousins and/or Jimmy Garappolo available for no draft compensation or in a draft class which is considered much stronger?
Hmm....

Yessir. I do expect Cleveland to be better this year but their schedule looks really tough so it may come down to that last game vs the Rams again this year and we know how that will go. Hopefully Allen, Darnold and Rosen all declare this year that way we will be a pretty much lock to land a FQB.

yup, everyone wants a FQB and I get it but sometimes there's just not one to be had in the draft. Reaching at 2 would have been one of the worst things we could have done IMO. We need talent everywhere and can't afford to throw a pick away. I'll take the safer pick all day with what we have

We will see, I think they'll win a couple more games than people are thinking...the Jet's are in full blown tank mode at least the have a plan lol .
