At least we find out that day if he signs or not. We won't know much more then that. A lot of time until next season for things to change.

Be nice to get him and draft another qb, and let Cj and a rookie battle for the 3rd spot an hopefully keep upgrading.

Yup July 17th is the date...correct a lot can happen in a yr, I'm all for options

I'm down for a front loaded contract on Kirk, develop CJ and possibly another draft pick, THEN take our more than likely high end draft pick and trade it to the highest bidder. We could use all that draft capital to build the OL/get a pass rusher. I can see us looking at FA for a WR as well.

Imo Kirk makes us a viable playoff team and we can still build for the future with those draft picks...a lots got to happen but it's not totally unrealistic.

I agree a quick turnaround is possible with good coaching and quality draft picks and FA's.
Jim did a good job, but we had some good pieces in place.

I'm looking more so at Seattle and what they did in the short time for there turnaround.
A good coach came in, and they brought in good draft picks and the right FA's that fit there System.

Yes they landed Russell, but I think with that #1 defense they've had, I still think they would have turned around that team even with a less talented qb.

As a 49er fan, you, of all people should know what a "mediocre QB" looks like.

as a 9er fan, your perception has been skewed. What we've had is steaming pile of s**t QBs.

LOL...wouldn't argue that!

Jim should prob be in the HOF for going 44-19-1 with no QB.

....with no trophy in the lobby and no ring on the finger. Jim wasn't much good for anything at the end of the day.

That's his regular season record for the 49ers. He had 5 playoff wins. 5x more than the Lions have had in the last 50 years.

I remember Pete being on the hot seat after two yrs of 7-9 records until Wilson came in....a good QB can turn everything around. I think we have a ton of young up and coming pieces on defense. Landing Kirk imo would make us possible playoff contenders.

I see no problem with playing Kirk for 4 yrs while grooming a QB and if Kirk is the man, trade that QB for something. I'd love to have more than less at QB for once lol.

That stadium was getting built regards of Jim...winning games has nothing to do with building stadiums

I didn't know the bar had been set so low for Jimmy Trouserpants.
Apparently he has some bragging to do then.

LOL. Can't win the big one...even with his own handpicked QB. Like his sex life, he's one and done.

So you are firing our starting quarterback already? Really premature. Let's see how he does this year first. Pretty good chance Hoyer'd be a better number two than any rookie you draft next year, or Beathard, and we can certainly use the draft slot you are using on another rookie qb for other team needs. I think we can contend for a playoff berth next year too, but having a backup, still under contract, that can win some games makes a huge difference in those odds. That's why NE rejected a profitable trade by asking for the moon and kept Jimmy G. Please, can we be smart too? Please? Just for a change?

I think Lynch wrote a two year contract for Hoyer for a reason, even though Cousins was in the plan after one. Let's go with that.

If we get Kirk I'm cutting hoyer without question...CJ becomes the backup and we save $4.5 million by letting him go. I'd rather not spend $30+ million on QBs in a yr.

He's not in the future plans and he's not jimmy G, you already know what you have in hoyer and he's injury prone.

How about we start developing qbs? That's what good teams do...It's a damn good thing Washington did it when they spent the 2nd overall pick and a f**k ton of future picks on RG3 wouldn't you say??
