This. Guess and check method.
Jed has no clue wtf he is doing. How could he?
Most teams are like this.
Our plan is kyle, so the above is not us.
The only thing that gonna blow us up is jed trying to get his fingers into ops. If saleh doesnt work out then we switch dc for next year.
Whos contract would be up?

Yeah, Kyle doesn't care as long as the QB fits his mold and criteria...2nd round, 3rd, 4tb, etc. Hell, he'll make a crappy #2 spread QB look good. Don't be surprised if Hoyer has a nice season.
I think 85 is just talking about probability and that there might be quite a few nice QB's in the first round that fit his ideals so he'd like us to be in prime position to get Kyle's man...which may be in the first round next year.
I think every coach wants the best player they can get especially at QB...more often then not they're drafted at the top of the draft, it's not rocket science lol.

In 2011, the highest rated quarterback was RGIII, who went 2 overall to his team. Jay Gruden's kid brother Jon was on the tv saying he'd give up Anything for him, and the Skins did just that. Kyle didn't believe in RG, so he got the team to buy his insurance policy of Cousins in the fourth at 102. He was subsequently fired for wanting to play his fourth rounder over number 2 overall. Now Cousins is the only quarterback in the history of the league to be franchised two years in a row. That first rounder is now out of the league.
In 2014, his team wanted Johnny Manziel. Kyle objected, but the Browns took him anyway in the first round at 22 overall. Kyle's first choice was Derek Carr, who was taken in the second round at 36th overall. That dude is now the highest paid player in the history of the league at $125m/5 years. Jimmy Garoppolo was his second choice, who also went in the second round but at the 62nd pick overall. Kyle quit under pressure to play that standout quarterback Johnny Manziel, who is also now out of the league.
Where in this history does it show Kyle Shanahan needs a very top pick to get a quarterback? Where does it show the top rated consensus quarterbacks that go high are better than his picks? Where does it show his criteria for the best prospect is anything like that of the pundits or the league consensus?
I'm all for Kyle having his choice, but the idea of tanking a season instead of getting this thing rolling, on the slim chance it will keep us from getting a (good God) "Franchise Quarterback", to me, is just Stupid, and y'all know by now, I'm of the opinion Kyle Shanahan ain't that.
Like I said only time he's been to the playoffs in 10 yrs is with a first rd QB, that's a fact.
I want our FO to get the best possible prospect at the QB position and imo that's more often than not at the top of a draft....yes there are outliers like Carr and Kirk (we don't know much about jimmy G). But like I said for every Carr there's a 100 mike Glennons, geno smith, Ryan mallet, jimmy clausen etc....
I'm done with grabbing a QB in the mid rds and thinking so and so can "coach" them up. We don't have some crazy amount of talent to make a QB look better than he is. IF we can get Kirk in FA you go all in on a QB next yr (unless CJ is some stud). No FQB no future. period

I love it. Start a positive attitude thread and you get nothing but negative trolls. Start a negative thread and positive attitudes show up in force.
I would blow an AIDS monkey for football season to start.

Yes, it's Opposite Day here, every day.
So I assume that means you would never do that monkey thing.

Probably not. But if anyone else wants to take one for the team that would be really neat

I think what you are missing is that Kyle doesn't draft those 100 quarterbacks. It's not a game of statistics for him. He looks for very specific traits to fit what he wants to do, and he doesn't give a hoot where he's rated on anybody's draft board.
I, for one, would be very happy to have Cousins or Carr. I don't know of anybody else he wanted, so from my perspective, he's batting 1,000 on 4th and 2nd round picks.
We'll get a quarterback. Don't fret.
Oh, and guess what. He's already drafted a 3rd rounder for us. It might just be too easy to write him off, and if you do, it's Because he's a third round pick. I'd sure rather have JaMarcus Russell, or Jake Locker, or Vince Young, or Matt Leinart, or Steve Spurrier, or Jim Druckenmiller, or Blain Gabbert, or Christian Ponder. Oh Wait....... Of course, the list of top pick qb busts is infinate.
Here's the deal. You think the challenge is getting a franchise quarterback, and then you win. I think the challenge is getting a great offensive minded coach, and then he will get you your quarterback, and then you win. We did that.

Oh, and guess what. He's already drafted a 3rd rounder for us. It might just be too easy to wright him off.
The fact that he liked Carr and Garoppolo in that draft class certainly shows he knows what he wants in a QB and limited history has shown that he's a good eye for QB talent. Obviously Cousins was also a good pick for Washington.
Hopefully the same results happen with Beathard but the position is so important if we're in position to grab a first round QB next year and we didn't sign Cousins or Garappolo then I hope we pull the trigger...but once again I'll trust Kyle's evaluations.
Too early to worry about next offseason anyways. But this whole thread is saltiness because we didn't take ops draft crush in Trubisky.

There is zero reason to be negative about the 49ers organization at this time. About seven months ago you had every reason to be negative. When we brought in John Lynch you had reason to be skeptical, once we brought Kyle Shanahan in you should have known the organization was in good hands. Damn near, if not everything they have done thus far has been golden. The best is yet to come, but the team is moving in the right direction. Any expectations that the team will be a contender at any point in the next two/three seasons is a ridiculous expectation. It may yet happen, but that will be a pleasant surprise as opposed to anything that should be expected. If Kyle did not think Mitch Trubisky was worthy I would tend to defer to his judgement rather than random message board guy's judgment. There are too many things in the real world to be legitimately negative about to make the 49ers yet another thing on that list. The results may not show immediately, but we are already in much better hands than at any point in the past 4 seasons (in some ways we're better off than at any point in the past 22 seasons -- the Harbaugh years notwithstanding). We as 49ers fans have every reason to be positive about the direction our franchise is going in.
