I agree. And also of note, if you're a poor team, there isn't much to play for either so suddenly hang nails become I.R.

How many of these guys would actually be on IR if we were competing for a playoff spot

We had 21 the year we went 8-8 on a playoff team. But there is truth to this as well.
next man up.

LMFAO...that has seriously been out motto. From who's got it better than us to next man up!
San Francisco has used injured reserve 20 times this season, according to Spotrac, more than any team in the NFL.

The Jets (18), Ravens (16), Lions (16) and Panthers (16) are close behind.

A training staff can't do anything to prevent broken necks and arms. It was actually a great job by the training staff to insist Garcon go in for a second round of x-rays because they just didn't think he looked right. A bad training staff would have just stuck with the first x-rays that didn't reveal the break and justified to themselves not bothering to look again.

This is a new training staff. I wonder what the deal is. I think what's important to note is if we subtract the Baalke players from this analysis what is this number? Baalke player are notoriously consistently injured.

Agreed. Let's review:

DB Chanceller James - ShanaLynch

Baalke: 9
ShanaLynch: 2 (?)

FA are a bit different than draft picks for me - home-grown talent on IR. Especially give the team is 50 (ShanaLynch) - 40 (Baalke) roughly. Baalke players are super over-represented on this list.

It probably doesn't matter at the end of the day but no doubt, Baalke has drafted glass for years. You just can't count on any of these guys.
No English we are not really talking about it much. Last post was November 3rd. And duh some injuries can't be blamed on Levis, but the amount of injuries certainly can be related to Levis. The injuries have been ridiculous since 2014 when we came to Levis. I don't think that is just a coincidence.

I'm with you...I've been posting on this issue for three years but it's become an epidemic after 4 years of evidence. The curse is real.

The sad part is that there are several other players counting towards the 53 right now who should not be playing IMHO but have to...Joe Staley, Trent Taylor, D.J. Jones, Kyle Juszczyk, etc.

More...almost all of the knees and 3-grade MCL's.

Three other 49ers' rookies were injured against the Cardinals. Wide receiver Trent Taylor (ribs), tight end George Kittle (ankle), and linebacker [b]Elijah Lee (knee) are not expected to play on Sunday against the New York Giants, according to Shanahan.

"[Taylor] was complaining about some soreness in his ribs," Shanahan said. "He had an awkward cut. You can see it on tape. You can just see him reach for his ribs and he fell and ended up breaking one."

Shanahan said that the 49ers are hoping to get Taylor back after the bye week.

"I could tell watching [Kittle] throughout the game that he was struggling," Shanahan said of his rookie starting tight end. "I know he went down with an ankle, we lost him for a little bit. It was the second play of the game. He had an explosive pass, got tackled, they rolled up on his ankle. They were afraid his fibula was broken -- or his tibia, whichever one of those two that is. They were afraid it was broken so they took him in for X-rays...

"The next special teams series, we lost Cole, who was the guy who would replace him. Later in that game, we lost [Juszczyk]. They all kind of play the same position in different ways. We didn't ask George to do that but he said he could go, and he went out there, and he allowed us to function. I earned a great deal of respect for him for him doing what he did."

Defensive tackle D.J. Jones (knee), fullback Kyle Juszczyk (neck), tackle Joe Staley (eye), guard Brandon Fusco (biceps), cornerbacks Dontae Johnson (shoulder) and K'Waun Williams (quadricep), and defensive ends Aaron Lynch (calf) and Solomon Thomas (knee) will all be limited during practices this week. Shanahan said each is likely to be a game-time decision on Sunday.

There must be some kind of tech outfit that specializes in accident occurrence. In medicine, we have CLIA, clinical lab investigation something or other....and if you have an inordinate # of nurses or assistants getting stuck with used needles, they do an inspection and find out why you are an outlier. (they do lots of other things too). Point is there are lots of outfits out there, actuaries, for example for how long you live, chance of your having an auto accident and so on. Car insurance uses same model. So there must be someone who can do analytics on Levi's field, and see if they can come up with something. Also they would probably check diet, training, gear, the whole magillicutty. I am not suggesting something "out there", there are legit companies do this kind of stuff. Gentlemen, I think it is time. I got no idea, but of course , like others wonder about the field. But honestly no idea, altho now I strongly suggest we get the appropriate group in here to see if they can spot something. since this is a contact sport I don't expect anything other than a possible link to the field at Levi's itself. But i'm no expert in this, just know it is worth it to our team to have this done. something is haywire or for 4 yrs running we are the unluckiest team out there. This would include looking carefully at the guys we draft , FA or other wise hire. Is it in the type of individuals we hire....here thinking of baalke's all ACL squad....stuff like that. Don't expect much but think it time to scientifically go about this and see if there is something there.
