Totally. I'm big on the 3 prong approach for this very reason. They need be a deep and similar in skill set for WHEN that #1 goes down. That's why I'm fascinated to see who they bring in to back up Trey. That's a crucial position especially in year 1 of starting where Trey may push himself or play hero ball and get himself hurt.
- Lol and he will be hurt
because he is a mobile QB playing hero ball. Yet our nonmobile QB has
never been able to stay healthy because of
_(insert OLine or ambiguous 49er trainers here)_.
A study had been showed to NC already that mobile QBs get hurt no more -- less, in fact, recently -- than immobile, pocket QBs, in great detail.

Yet to no avail, obviously, as the same unproven narrative still gets pushed. You can give him all the evidence to the contrary and he will forget it and come here and pitch the same misinfo for followers.
- Someone previously had it right: With cases like
Jason Verrett, Dee Ford, and
Javon Kinlaw,... the 49ers like to roll the dice @ times on the injury front. A time they
didn't do this was in passing up
Jonathan Allen's arthritic, no-good shoulders. Remember all of that hoopla? He was the surefire choice (
Aaron Rodgers was as well --
not Alex Smith). The pick was supposed to be him, but we skipped out due to injury concerns and took
Solomon Thomas.
1 is now a Pro Bowl caliber player,...the other, a nobody. Kinlaw can easily be seen as a "not making this mistake again" reaction to skipping over an obvious choice like Jonathan Allen, just as an example.
What lesson is there to be learned from it? To take chances or to not take chances? Follow your 1st mind or avoid injuries and bad medical evaluations?
- Lol look,...I have no problem with charting this stuff without bias. The only true gripe lies in the herd-mentality the OP is continually pitching in reviving this thread instead of simply admitting that
he knows no more than you or I -- and much less than the 49ers -- when it comes to making these decisions.
We've reaped the benefits of taking risks,...and we've paid the consequences as well. Just like everyone else. No need or reason to feel sorry for ourselves or think something else sinister is going on,....that's just a b.s. storyline that's sold to you.
- The chart previously displayed courtesy of Mangameslost serves it's purpose: we're right around
8th to 10th worst in total # of games lost due to injury, and
3rd worst in the quality of injured players lost. Not the worst in the league in either category, and far from the best. The healthiest team in the league per the chart isin't necessarily the best by any stretch.
Green Bay has the
2nd worst quality of injured players lost and is the best team in the league.
Jacksonville, Atlanta, Houston,....all relatively healthy by the same metrics,...all suck.
So, yes, conspirators don't like it, but...
Disinformation has to be fought with good information.
