In short...stay away from 49ers headquarters!

100%. im praying for news of change at 49ers HQ. alot of support coaches leaving. hopefully someone from the medical team leaves too.

Agree with both. I'll just add that even with the best coaches (or medical personnel), it's still the players that decide what happens. Pettis vs Jauan for example. Same coaches but one is no longer on the team. 49ers have, to a certain extent, been emphasizing more vetting on the medical injury side, and hopefully doing a much better job getting their players to come into camp in better shape and conditioning. But I hope they really do zero in and get more players who are - to a certain extent - workout warriors. I'd rather have a workout warrior who has above average ability (but not outstanding), than a Pettis who has hall of fame agility and acceleration but he would rather do cat videos than work out and practice his routes.

LOL

And if the bring back Verrett even on a 1-year to take up a roster spot for a more reliable player, this FO and coaching staff has no room for using the "injuries happen" or "this was unexpected" excuse.

If they resign him, they better make sure he's 100% and 8th on their depth chart after the draft and free agency. LOL

100% yes. this is a two sided battle with one side being our inept, embarassing, record breaking medical dept. an the other being the players natural durability. we were hammered on both up until 2021 by not only drafting injury prone players but putting them on a team with insanely bad treatment/diagnosing/conditioning issues. jeff wilson couldnt even walk on the field last season without getting hurt. literally. the dude pulled a muscle walking out for his first play one of the games. if he physically wasnt able to play without getting more hurt, why was he medically cleared?

look at how we ran E mitchell into the ground. the dude was a rookie who had to go on a snap count in practice at the end of the season cause he was so overused. a rookie! everyone loves to hide behind " o well he was hella good he was our best RB so they had to give him the ball! ya mitchell is sick!!" ya he was hella good. he was also ALL WE HAD at RB. which was the majority of the reason he was the only one out there. we had no one left! i think hasty is better than the team gives him credit for but for whatever reason they rarely give him the ball. he was also hurt this year....again.

i think they made a clear effort in last years draft to pick more durable players. which was such a great move in the right direction but it will only pan out if/when those players get on the field an contribute. it also is only half of the problem. whoever they have running our players physical health has proven to not be doing a good job. we arent just getting unlucky 5 seasons in a row. sorry that BS lazy naive narrative doesnt fly anymore.

wev had a ton of turnover at asst coaches the last two seasons. where we need turnover is medical an S&C staff. hopefully their making changes an just not announcing it.

i know iv been a broken record on this subject but its because its easily the #1 thing holding us back from a trophy. all the other problems we have, playcalling, lack of CBs, lack of OL protection, QB play is a far far 2nd place behind injuries in the reasons we havent won it all. we could have terrible drafts 2-3 years in a row but if we had better health i still think wed be ok. 2019s, 2020s an 2021s rosters with just A FEW more players healthy enough to play were easily SB winning rosters. its time to address the elephant in the room an attack the real problem. injuries. until they do il continue to be a broken record about it on the webzone!!!

Seagrove is the only one I've seen moving on from the medical team. Have no clue where he went. But the rest of the Medical squad is still there.

To be fair to our medical staff, I think 2020 had us play about 9+ games on astro turf, vs (I think) 5 in 2021. Astro Turf, I think, is a magnate for injuries to our players. Try to cut on rubberized concrete and your feet will stick, but your knee keeps going. Javon Kinlaw's knee injury was on Dallas astro-turf. It's that grippy. There has, I think, been a very very slight improvement in 2021, but agree that we're too high in the injury bracket to explain everything away with the *just plain bad luck* argument. We'll have more games on astroturf in 2022 than in 2021, that sucks.
So according to Maiocco on his latest podcast, McGlinchey had been injured for a "very long time" but he didn't want surgery because of the severity of it. And he was relieved when the leg finally popped.

Can you imagine knowing his leg could pop at any time and doing nothing for a backup plan? And then giving him his $10M 5th year option.

Un...freaking...real.

ShanaLynch will never win a Superbowl ever...with this massive blind spot known as the OL.

They weren't going to invest heavily into a backup plan because no OL in the NFL is deep at OT. They brought in some vet free agent journeymen and had a few young development players via the last couple drafts. That's pretty much what every team has at OL for backups.

That's insane! That may have been the reason they drafted Banks and Moore?

On a positive note, does that mean *if* he's cured of that injury via the operation, and he is 100% healthy, does that mean he'll now be a viable in pass protecting Trey's right side? I hope so.

In a sense, it is kind of good news.

True. Tom Compton was a much smarter investment.

Now we know why he kept trying to lose weight.

We'll have to see if he can even make it back let alone play at a higher level.

we started the win streak as soon as Compton came in.. pretty much saved the season... that move ended up being a great investment
