I mean, I'd try everything at this point to reverse this annual trend! Loooooooooooong overdue.

Agree. But I've come to the conclusion that the way the 49ers want to be *lean* without losing power - is one of the reasons 49ers are so injured. So, to me, it's more of a scheme and system thing than a trainer/rehab thing. I think I understand why they are doing it. I think it has a lot to do with being fast on defense and offense to get turnovers and explosive plays, but then you suffer the consequences of being constantly injured because you are undersized.

Hopefully a running back that can break tackles and get those tough 1 yard runs as well as big enough to pass protect, can help offensive consistency and pass protection. Too often in the past, I think, guys like Brieda and Mostert weren't big enough to sustain pass protections on play pass and bootleg plays etc... Hopefully bigger RB's like Trey Sermon and Tyrion Price can pass protect better than Brieda and Mostert could.

Yup. Running back, WR, and Defensive End seems always to be the positions we're always injured at every friggen year. We seem to (knock on wood) always have season ending injuries at these positions -- so from an injury standpoint, it makes sense to me to have drafted the way they have done in the first 3 rounds of 2022. They may not have gotten the OT/Center/CB that everybody wanted, but from an injury point of view - I think it will definitely help us towards more at the seasons end, than the beginning.

They still have about 6 more picks, so they can add depth at OT/Center and CB. Hopefully they can strike gold and find some hidden gems in day 3 today.
Good Lord. That's a ton to start with.

From David Bonilla on the FP.

LB Azeez Al-Shaair
Al-Shaair underwent shoulder and knee surgery after the season. He is working toward being ready for training camp at the end of July.

LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, OG Daniel Brunskill
The two players are dealing with some knee tendonitis. However, Shanahan indicated that both should be fine by training camp.

TE George Kittle, TE Charlie Woerner
The 49ers are being smart with Kittle and Woerner, who have "similar issues." Both were observers during practice. Shanahan noted that there isn't a significant need for either to get work right now.

"We'll see if they go towards OTAs, but there's a good chance we'll hold them out until training camp," Shanahan said, adding that they are dealing with "lower half" issues.

CB Ambry Thomas
Thomas was ill. He practiced on Monday but was sent home on Tuesday morning after exhibiting "some symptoms."

OL Justin Skule
Skule did practice after missing all of last season with an ACL injury. Shanahan said he is "cleared to go and healthy."

OT Mike McGlinchey, DT Javon Kinlaw
Shanahan expects McGlinchey (quadriceps) and Kinlaw (knee) to be ready to go by training camp.

"Just looking at them out there, and how there's moving, we consider them ahead of schedule. And it's been very positive on both those guys," Shanahan said.

CB Jason Verrett
Shanahan is optimistic that Verrett could be healthy by training camp. The cornerback suffered an ACL injury during Week 1 of last season. The 49ers re-signed him to a one-year deal.

"We're all pulling that he can get healthy for training camp," Shanahan said.
That seems to be a longer than normal (10 months) recovery for Verrett. Normal is 9 months to recover and could be more to get to playing fitness. But the comment infers he may not have recovered by Training Camp.
Either way I am hoping we see something positive for him and the team some time before the season opener.

Kittle still has that torn rotator cuff. Or at least i haven't heard of him getting that thing fixed via surgery. Hope it can heal without surgery. Good news on McGlinchy and Kinlaw. Thats few and far between, but I'll take it. So far so good on everyone except Azeez.

I have no idea why he won't get surgery for that.

Personally, I'd rather have an injury heal naturally (if possible) vs using surgery simply because of all the possible infections and slip of the knife issues you have to risk to have a successful surgery.

True but IIRC, it will never heal right until he gets the surgery. I believe Kittle has talked about that. But it sounds like the lower half issues are still there too. That might be more concerning given he's dealt with this for the past 2-3 years now too.

I defer to Doc, but I've read that Rotator Cuff injuries can slowly heal. Kittle wears that shoulder brace to protect against more injury to the joint, but yeah - if he doesn't heal right then his catching might be affected. Just looking at his year by year stats, though, and those actually have trended up since 2020 and haven't fallen too far off his 2019 pace.

It's possible they heal without surgery, but takes a ton of time and PT. Most docs will recommend surgery for young, healthy people.

Very nice change in philosophy! NC is always 100% correct! Kudos to Mr. Hall of Fame! NCommand

Davis-Price wasn't the only bigger running back that the 49ers added this offseason. The team also signed 223-pound Jordan Mason from Georgia Tech, an undrafted free agent.
"We brought in some bigger guys this year," Lynn said via The Athletic. "And that was intentional. And bigger guys usually stay healthier than the smaller, speedier guys. I hope we don't have the injuries we had in the past. But I like the options we have."

49ers are now paying attention to players that work out! Jerry Rice and Roger Craig were notorious legendary 49er workout warriors and hardly ever got injured and both had very long and productive careers.
Jason Poe's wholesome hobbies
JF: "Hey, there we go. I'm glad to hear it. [laughs]. Alright before we go, I just want to do a couple of quick-hitter questions. Just some fun questions. What are some of your favorite hobbies outside of football? When you're not playing football, what do you like to do?"
JP: "I like getting up at like 4:30 every morning and just working out, I'm not going to lie. Just working out, going crazy. I read the Bible here and there. I like to read that from time to time. And if I can help somebody, I'll do that. I really don't watch a lot of TV. When I do, I watch sports and stuff like that. But that's what I do."
