Every year it's multiple injuries at the same position group. RBs and CBs last year

Yah it's not that the 49ers get more injuries than other teams. It just seems like we always have certain areas that get ravaged. This makes the injuries more damaging because it weakens an entire unit. Last year we had the LBs and RBs battling injuries. Now it's starting with the middle of the D line which was already weakened when DJ Jones left.

Injuries are now such a big factor in the NFL that the SB is often a battle between the 2 healthiest teams instead of the 2 best teams.

Yup, the way the cap, draft, and free agency is set up - talent is spread so evenly thin along all teams, that one or two injuries will tank a teams season. Now that the season is basically 22 weeks (not counting the bye) it's a battle of the Trainers and medical staff more than the players sometimes. One good thing is that sports science is going to advance rapidly. I'm hoping those brain injuries can get cured soon, so we can go back to real tackle football. But yeah, whoever can stay healthy is probably going to the playoffs and win the super bowl. It's not all about talent anymore.

YaY! that's when the *real football* evaluation starts. On Hurst, I read on the transcript that Maurice just stuck his hand out to grab one of the RB's and just like that - tore his bicep. It basically was still non-contact play, considering no pads. Another weird one was Jeff Wilson was just getting up from sitting on a chair and felt weird and boom, he's out for half a year. Some of these injuries are really strange how they happen.

Yeah, he's just not meant to play football. Talented kid but hasn't stayed healthy even through college. That's why the Raiders cut him.
I forgot one. TE Charlie Woerner had a core muscle surgery. I'm not sure when he'll be back.

That 17th game is no joke! That 17th game PLUS a WC path might end the run of the WC team winning a Superbowl.

You're right.

Well on top of the Seadderall game in Week 15, game 5, 6, and 8 are also on astro-concrete. That's four tough games on that horrible surface.

I just took a look at the pre-season games. Minessota is on Astro-concrete and so is the Houston game. That's two pre-season games on Astro-concrete.
I know this is before cut downs but 2 more injuries.......and yes it happens because it's normal football stuff and may not be linked to the 8 year analysis.
-Leon O'Neal with hamstring and now cut (probably not on 53 and outside chance of PS IMO)
- Most concerning is the standout in practice CB Charvarius Ward with 2 weeks rest due to muscle soreness. Glad they are monitoring closely because it would be bad for this position to be thin again!

How's Moseley? He always seems dinged up too.

Woerner should be back soon from his core muscle surgery.

Otherwise, not a bad start at all.

Wow! Just checking *who* Leon O'Neal was - he's an UDFA. Hope once he heals, he can try out again. Tough being an UDFA and getting injured. It could be the end of your career if that happens.

Thank god Carvarius isn't a long term or permanent injury. Still I like the fact that Ambry and Lenoire are both 2nd years and should know the defenses by now. They add a certain depth to an always depleted squad - towards playoff time. I also forgot they drafted two more CB's this draft cycle. (Womack and Tariq)

Agree. So far so good.
It certainly could be worse but like a dozen players are out d/t soft tissue issues. No excuses for those. That's basic care.

#49ers injury report Drake Jackson - stinger, should be OK soon Dontae Johnson - ribs cartilage fracture, he'll miss a little time Daniel Brunskill - hamstring stain, out a few weeks Danny Gray - hip/back soreness, out a couple days (1 of 2)
#49ers injury report (continued) Mike McGlinchey - irritated inside of his knee, they will "be smart with him this week." Curtis Robinson - groin, will miss this week. Emmanuel Moseley (hamstring) and Hassan Ridgeway (quad) could be back in practice this week. (2 of 2)

The one that worries me is the Mike McGlinchey knee irritation. That might be a signal of something chronic and might become a Dee Ford scenario. It's also McGlinchy's contract year. If he can't get healthy, his career here might be over. He's being paid 10 million this year.

The rest, as you said, it's basic care of soft tissue injuries - which are par for the course during preseason.

Up next - two games on Astro-Crete.

22 year olds shouldn't be out weeks for hammies this early. Seems more like a training issue. Not a huge concern but they are piling up.

Ward, Moseley https://www.49erswebzone.com/articles/160000-shanahan-daniel-brunskill-jackson-dealing-shoulder-stinger-updates/

Same. "Irritation" is generic enough to go in a bad direction. Hopefully a week or two of rest will get it right.
On another team -Jets- an injury could be the answer for Jimmy G……so he can get injured there. 🫣
