The Jason Verrett Thread

https://www.49erswebzone.com/forum/niners/196308-injury-updates-post-bye/

The Verrett thread has analysis/discussion on why he among others were on this team and continued to be injured etc etc? I guess all is well and attributed to "it's just footbball and injuries happen". Since Coach has come out and explained a few things I think we know the score and we hope the reinforcements have healed up on the run to the superbowl.

Side bar - The sentiment for JV is nice to see and you would not wish his injury cursed career on anyone. Hope he recovers well.

If you go back to the beginning of the season,...you'll find that the NFL Champion L.A. Rams were paraded around here constantly as the Gold Standard when it comes to injury management and keeping players healthy.

Well,...as it stands now, they have more players on IR than we do, right?

We knew Verrett was injury prone before we got him. Otherwise, he would've costed alot more. If you are looking for a smoking gun,...you're simply not going to find one with this sport. You gotta separate frustration from reality.

And speaking of that...

The reason they did not send a letter requestion of removing all synthetic fields this year is because they'd already sent that letter in 2020....

The letter was collectively laughed at by the higher-ups,...but here is a copy of the letter:

Well the joke is on you bc you left out the most important part of that limited short sighted statement…..The quality of players injured and how MANY GAMES MISSED by said good players on the team which we have a substantial lead on the Rams hahahaha. We have also NOT placed a ton of players on IR bc we had so many and at most you can only bring back 8 from IR per year. Hello????? Didn't you know that? We didn't put players like Kittle, Ward, AA, Trent Williams on IR so saying the Rams have "more" players on IR is a joke.

They have an average LT who was a backup last year as their biggest and most significant injury unless you are counting their average C or below average slot cb . Stafford…Ramsey….Donald…Kupp…..Wagner….Robinson have missed NO TIME whatsoever.

Again, maybe do your research before making a statement like that unless you're in denial that the niners are ALWAYS among the most injured teams every year with great players injured or are you just trying to push the narrative that we are not?

The NFL will counter with studies they release that the data between field turf and natural grass is similar. We know from just watching if a place like Giants stadium can take out Bosa, Solly, and Saquonn in successive weeks there must be something there.

[The Rams] currently had more on IR than we do. How is that a narrative?

The soap opera of how great they were that I had to constantly hear about was the narrative.

They were the gold standard. They could do no wrong. Where did all of that fluff go, and who are the new Training Room Champions?

The length of their current IR list is what we call a fact,...not a narrative. No?

all teams should just use voice commands, like hey I tackled you, or hey I intercepted the ball. #problemsolved.

I didn't bump this thread after Kyle noted for the first time in his career here, we didn't have any injuries to report. But whomever said, "I wonder how many injuries we'll have during the bye-week" at first i wanted to but then went .

Because he knew what was coming from our history. So for not being in random perpetual annual denial about reality with this team.
I recall seeing statements on here about how the Rams always seem to stay healthy. Well that's not the case this year. Several teams are having real issues with the offensive lines this season. Not sure why. I don't know what the league can do to cut down on injuries unless the start limiting how big players can be. Other than that, they've instituted about every rule and safety measure that they can without making it flag football.

Just as a side note, I watched a special about Willie Mays the other night. Over a ten year period from 1954 through 1963 he missed 20 games. That's an average of 2 per year. I know it's not football but how many baseball players can go more than a week now without having a day off.

Yes, beyond "injured reserved" the focus on this thread was Adjusted Games Lost. That tells you the whole picture. And yes, the Rams and Seattle have historically been top 5 on AGL on the aggregate average rank over the same period (8 years) as us (31st).

So naturally, when teams like the Rams, Bucs, Chargers, Bengals, etc. have an injury year around where we play under on an annual basis, of course they fall off a cliff.

That's the very purpose of this thread...it showed the incredible correlation of AGL health to the odds of making the playoffs. Other trends show that every team has that down year but tend to bounce back to their average the very next year. Other teams remain consistently at the top and bottom.

What this team has accomplished while being at the very bottom of AGL is not only unprecedented in the modern era but remarkably consistent.

I guess the answer was no.

Well, you literally did not read anything I told you. You left out the context and the most important facts which are nobody on their injured reserve is any good. At all. Our players have missed more games than them (and ANYONE in the NFL) and they are actually good players not scrubs.

You did not answer the question and pretended like you didn't know the truth. The Rams still have the best players on their team not missing one single game. That includes Stafford, Ramsey, Donald, Wagner and Cooper Kupp. So you are either trying to push that narrative by disregarding the facts, or you really are that…….I won't even say it. Come on man

I am definitely guilty of saying that. This is the first game that we had no injuries to report but I don't know if I said it on this message board however I certainly did to my friends. I said well, we'll have at least one injury during the bye week because there's no way we can have a week without a starter go down
