Keep 3 QBs?

1. Hoyer 2. Barkley 3. Beathard

Done and done.
i get this. but man i would love to go with two and fill that spot with someone who can help us in other areas. again,. i totally understand your reasoning. hoyer and his injuries
Send Barkley home and make sure he has his phone nearby. I doubt any team claims him to put on their 53. When Hoyer gets hurt, bring Barkley back.

Let's put CJ Beathard at #2, Hoyer goes down, Beathard struggles, fans boo him, confidence is shot. Now what? I don't get why so many want to just hurry up and throw Beathard in the fire. Yes he looked pretty solid, but let's now forget, theses were vanilla defenses with second and third stringers. IMO his play this past preseason is nothing but a confidence booster, it's like he was doing doughnuts around Richard Sherman or Luke Kuechly. Let Beathard sit back and learn for a while that's the luxury of having two vets on the roster.

The answer to that question for me is the O Line. Is ShanaLynch confident in the pass protection enough to go with a rookie backup QB? In other words, is the O Line good enough to keep Hoyer upright while BeatHard is on the bench developing his QB skill set? If the answer is yes, then by all means lets go with BeatHard as #2. If the O Line is shaky, or lacking the ability to keep Hoyer healthy, then of course go with 3 QB's and the debate would be to put either to put Barkley or BeatHard at #2. If it's *really* shaky, lets get Barkley to take the hits from the Rookie. If it's somewhat shaky, but not so shaky that they fear losing Hoyer by game 6, then BeatHard should be #2.

He has had an ACL a few years ago and a broken arm last year right? I don't recall anything else...I don't understand where the narrative he is fragile came from?

That #2 QB spot, and whether to keep Barkley is a nice debate. Why did he get so little playing time? Coaches said that there's enough film on him to know what he can do. Is that the truth, or was he being phased out? It's not like he has experience in Kyle's offense. If he was slotted into the #2, he needed more reps to familiarize with the offense.

He gets dinged really easy.

New England just cut their projected punt returner Cyrus Jones after losing Edelman

Honestly, you would think that if Barkley was being phased out they would've cut him a week ago. He didn't look too bad in the first preseason game, it's just Beathard looked good hence getting more time in game two.

ACL injury for Jones, with a partially torn meniscus. If Bolden is let go there's a chance the Pats make a play for him

He wasn't cut. He tore his ACL

Two kick returns for touchdowns in 4 preseason games is pretty damn good, I think more than one team will be calling for Bolden if he's cut.

Teams may still want to carry 4 QBs in preseason and it doesn't make sense to pick up a free agent QB this late (after 2 preseason games) into the offseason and have him pick up the playbook.

Boldin won't make it a second past waivers if he's released.

He may be a marginal receiver, but his return ability is going to peak a lot of teams interests.
