#72 is Bennett lined up at 5tech, just off Brown's outside shoulder.

A player motions across the formation and Bennett shifts to a 4i technique - Browns inside shoulder. This will give Brown a better angle to execute his reach block.

Sealed to the inside.

Just typical +4 gain, but wanted to give Brown his props.

Love Brown on those run plays. Guy is elite.
Brown manhandling a first team all pro.

Versus CAR, the 49ers rarely blitzed, but when they did they played man coverage behind it. I think this is the first zone blitz they showed this season. Blitz tendencies is something I wanted to note as we learn about what Saleh wants to do.
This is on SEA's first drive. Watching this live, I thought the 49ers played extremely soft for a 3rd & 6. They brought pressure and wanted to go for 'safe pressure', the principle behind a zone blitz, but this wasn't fire zone (3 deep).

mirrored Inverted Smash vs 4 deep with 2 underneath zone (5 rushers)

49ers overload the right side of the OL and the blitz gets picked up. With just two underneath defenders, any underneath route is going to have a good chance of being open as the 49ers keep everything in front of them. No protecting the sticks here, just don't get burned deep.

Blitz Tartt and Reid, drop Lynch back into a zone. Interesting.

I get people like to hate AA right now but he blew by his dude so fast that was a nice move. Unfortunately for us Dumervil blew right by his dude too
Also at you guys hating AA for his route, WTF he went straight to where Wilson was, Wilson just does what he does best and gtets out of s**t like that

Here, Seattle is going to run a simpel HB Smash play. It's an inside zone with a lead blocker(FB). What's interesting to note is that we don't even have Buck or Armstead in on this play. Seattle is backed up. We have Tank, DJ Jones, Mitchell and Thomas in.

At the snap you see the LG and LT try and double up Jones and move to the 2nd level. Jones does a great job taking on the double team and both Mitchell and Thomas stand their guys up - that's great line play technique.

Thomas is really impressive here. You can see on plays like this why he went 3rd overall. He bench presses his guy up, then, see's the lead blocker coming, disengages one arm and takes on the FB as well while still keeping the RG engaged. You see how Bow and Coyle are free to roam and fill the only 2 holes.

At this point, Bow has cleaned up plugging the hole and the RB has to cut back. The moment he see's this, Mitchell disengages his guy(literally throws him off) and is right there to make the tackle.

That's a great job by our d-line all up and down the line!!
DJ Jones manhandling the center. (half slow mo). jd, I love this slow mo for the end zone camera. Trench warfare happens so fast and the new slow mo helps a lot.

I've actually been really impressed with DJ Jones, he had a couple of good stops vs Carolina if I remember rightly, a batted pass and he's standing up really well at the LOS. I think the dude's a baller.

For me, 2nd game of a rebuild, I really like what I've seen in the games live (by and large) and coming into this thread I'm even more hopeful. I've had my doubts on Hoyer and I hope he pulls through, but what is refreshing for me is that the play calling is sound and when we have players in there executing correctly I think we'll be a force. Shanny gets heat on game days, then we come into the film breakdowns and see what you and jonnydel post and it tells a completely different story.

I'd like to see us blitz a bit more on defense, but we seem to have a really fundamentally sound scheme and focus and Saleh is reminding me of Fangio in trying to create a really disciplined defense, but I like that he also has that focus on controlled violence and aggression.

C-Link is the toughest place to go play and that Seattle defense is still one of the best around, for all that their offense relies on Wilson, that combination has been more than enough to put a big beatdown on a lot of teams. To go in there and compete so early on in this project is a great sign.

Here's a few key plays from SEA's TD drive. Pretty frustrating watching the missed holds, Wilson scramble for easy yards, the DJ pass interference, then Wilson being a magician.
This is the first 3rd down SEA faced on the drive and they chose to pass.
Spot vs Cover3

AA facing a block from a RB, he'll toss the RB aside. Wilson looks to the Spot concept and I think AA is in the passing lane so Wilson doesn't pull the trigger to the flat route.

That's a hold.

AA easily gets by the RB but takes a bad angle to RW. Don't run at where he is, run at where you think he'll want to go. AA runs at where Wilson is and just like that he's gone.

That's a hold.

2nd & 10. More Wilson scrambling
49ers will bring a double A gap blitz with RayRay and Bow. Solly will drop into a spy role. 49ers play man coverage behind the blitz - Cover 1 blitz. Wilson senses the blitz and calls for 7 man protection.

Solly assumes his spy position.

Solly is a physical specimen but no down lineman is going to handle Wilson in the open field.

+11. That'a hold on the RT. He even puts his hands up like "I didn't do anything".

Here's the TD.
Whatever that route combo is vs Cover3

Wilson completes his dropback and sees this. RR playing over the top defeats the sideline fade. KWilliams grabby with his WR. Bow grabby with his WR. No one is open and AA just put a nice inside move on the RG.

F Wilson and his scrambling.

F this play.

F the seagulls.

gg
Id be worried if i was a cawks fan.
Well see those f**kers in our house when were more of a well oiled machine and Foster back. Hopefully Reid as well.

We're hating on his abilities coming from the edge. We want him playing the inside. This is exhibit 102938 of that argument. He can get around the edge but he can cause chaos inside.

Its no secret when hes in at DE its to play the run and willing to sacrifice some pass rush from the end spot.

Where the f**k has Watson been? I thought hed be getting some looks.. Seems like he was improving and liked what I saw. Guess that was a case of looking solid in pre season lol.

Wonder when well get a Pita sighting.

So yeah, he's not a LEO since that's where the pass rush should come from nearly all of the time.
Anyways, I'm hoping for Pita too. Looks like Watson is mainly in to give the guys a breather since the offense can't keep them off the field. I don't mind Watson since he does a great job in special teams.
