Garcon reminding me of Boldin his first couple years here. Just an absolute monster. That 3rd and 18 got me so f**king amped.

Damn, didn't even see it......5 eligible receivers and 4 recognizable concepts.

DJ was not aligned in a tight press at the snap and Watkins gave him a nice juke off the line. If DJ wanted to grab a bit after Watkins starts his route, that chance disappeared quick (TV view shows good slowmo).

DJ did have a bad game. He looked lost out there in coverage. Is Williams the reason Witherspoon is inactive on Sundays?
Asa Jackson is active over Spoon.

So a DB who has never had an INT in his career (reg season) is active over our 3rd round pick?
Paging Dr. Witherspoon.

The Witherspoon and Williams picks are the ones I am regretting early on. Cooper Kupp looked terrific for the Rams and he went a few picks after Witherspoon. As did Kareem Hunt who is averaging 8 yards per carry. Sucks to see two guys who basically have to be red-shirted while actual productive players were chosen right after.

The 49ers actually converted on a 3rd & 18. This was the first of Garcon's three excellent plays. Rams show deep but will rotate to Cover3.

Kittles route does just enough to pull the strongside curl player to allow a passing lane to Garcon. From the far hash, this is a far throw. Hoyer throwing just as Garcon enters his break.

3rd & 18 converted. Had to break two tackles for the last 3 yards.

It's also a play that highlights the great O-line play. Look how clean that pocket is on an 18 yard out route - that's gonna take a few seconds
Man i liked that kitties /Taylor pairing where one runs interference for the other. We used that several times and one of them was not shown here. Sure wasn't a "pick" and illegal, but that is exactly what it was...a pick and wide open. Subtle pick i guess is what one would call it.

Last play of the 3rd and the 49ers needed a shot in the arm trailing 14 points.
Z Cross (Three level Flood) vs Quarters

Since there isn't a vertical threat from the RB, the Quarters safety on Goodwin's side of the field is free to double team Goodwin.

Goodwin isn't even slightly open- he's bracketed. Hoyer: idgaf yolo.

+50. Hit him in the hands, Goodwin drops it. Throw into double coverage and make him high point, he catches it.

yeah, but we also have a starting TE picked after a bunch of other players who aren't starting either and have an UFA who's been contributing in the run game as well.

True, just saying that I wasn't psyched about either of those picks when they were made and am somewhat less so now.

Still hopeful that with some time both guys can develop into highly productive players.

And there it is......that's about as Shanahan(father & son) as it gets. Usually it's the deep cross, but it's nice to put on film completing the deep over.

LOL...that OL is awesome to watch here. Notice the differences in style between Brown and Staley. Brown punches him in the face and he goes nowhere while Staley gently guides his man around and out of the play.

1Q: 1st & 10
Here it is to the Crosser. vs Cover1 blitz
Brown really doesn't mess around when it comes to pass blocking. It's a shame that he's a bit of a nancy when it comes to run blocking, but his pass blocking is impressive to watch.

He wraps this play up how Walsh used to wrap up the Drive concept. I'd argue that it's his concepts he wants to get to multiple times a game.

My man, Trenton. Bust 'em in the mouf, and break some teef, and they won't want to come back again. All finesse. As for the run blocking, is it that he has fusco next to him (which i suspect is the problem, )or is it really Trent. I've seen some clips where on Iso he just beats his man inside and then goes 2nd level on LB or DB, whichever. If there is a gif out there that shows what he is doing, i would love to see it. But the technique used here in pass pro is AWESOME. Beat-em-up.
