Are we really moaning about a 20 yard gain??!!!! I get that we'd like the TD but it looks like he made the right read, can't worry about that.

Shouldn't take it like that. It's good that we can spot more than one open guys. It means Kyle's offense is the s**t even with hodge podge guys on offense

Not moaning, just trying to understand JG's call. Maybe just late in progression? I really like the play design too.

All good, I'm learning from this thread but it seems to me that after diagnosing the cushion Murphy has that's his first read. Breida is probably later in the progression.

If the guys are right about this beings verticals with an option route built in, then this is just amazing.

I can't wait until JG and Kyle get fully dialled in together, going to be scary

Versus zone coverage, a drag is normally not to be targeted since it's run in front of the LB level. And if a LB can attack downhill on a drag route - wham! My guess is when JG diagnosed zone coverage presnap, he wasn't going to look at the drag route. The reason the drag was open is because the Will LB rolled all the way over towards Celek/Juice. That Will LB should be in his zone, on the other side of the field (where Breida was running towards).

Did they come out in this look or did Breida get motioned out? I'm just wondering if the reason for the verts and getting the back split wide was to make some room for the skinny post. When he got the lane over the middle he had the look he was wanting.

49ers were using no huddle and came out with that look (no motion).
....

Here's why a drag route should not be targeted versus zone, unless the defenders gain a lot of depth on their zone drop or if there's a blown coverage.(sorry had to use this example, it was precut).

About 2.5 hrs into the game.. might be Celek's TD or the play before it.

After a nice play, they do a replay with a close up of Jimmy's face... and the way he was looking to his left while dropping back was as cool as someone can be. Can't rememeber if he was trying to keep his head straight for the safety. It's like he wasn't on a field with a Monster like Clowney constantly trying to kill him. If you'll can gif that, it'd be cool

I got you fam

Holding call in the red zone makes it 1st & 20.
That Curl-Fade-Curl combo vs Cover1 blitz. HOU CBs playing with a big cushion, like they did numerous times in this game.

Mid windup as Bourne is coming out of his break. CB playing with that kind of cushion and it's pitch and catch if timing is on point.

+18. Next play is Celek TD.

Yup! Good looking out!
It's crazy that his face and eyes are that relaxed...yet able to quickly drop back like that. I look at the close up gif of his face.....then look at his feet in the elevated view gif...wow.

lol for some reason when I read your post I thought of this play from 2013 which was coincidentally against HOU. It's very similar to what HOU wanted to do to JG on the play jonnydel cut up in post #4.

"It's a TRAP!" coverage.

Brock let's #1 go by and jumps the route from #2. The safety on that side of the field rotates over to cover anything vertical from #1.

lol. and we thought Brock was so good. when it was all design

Jimmy G is giving a chamce for our recievers to rack up those YACs, remember when madden would keep mentioning the YAC about our team back in the day.

Wow is an understatement. Anyone try doing this with a relaxed face at home. The game has definitely slowed down for him. That comes through crazy repetition and practice.
Pretty nifty of Jimmy. Calm, cool in the pocket like a ten year vet. No wasted steps or motions, just making a good throw. Looks like he knows what's coming most of the time and knows what to do.

Last time I see anything like that from our qb was from Alex Smith, and he was already year 2 into KC with Reid.

Give him some protection and weapons, he's going to slice defenses apart in Kyle's offense.
