"What you are seeing in that empty-stadium porn is the result of distance from San Francisco, early-season heat, and a team that is seemingly getting more anonymous by the snap; in all, it's schadenfreude incarnate. It's more than that, though—corny as it is to say, it can't be understated how much the move to a new stadium cleaved any remaining bridge between the dynasty 49ers and the 49ers of the present and future. The move did away with the shared experiences of the franchise's best years, even if each passing year proved Candlestick to be more dilapidated and outdated.

The move severed relationships among longtime ticket holders and priced out the old guard of fans who haven't yet accepted that watching an NFL game on the couch is much more enjoyable than it is in person and, in conjunction with the proximity to the new-monied Silicon Valley oligarchy, it drove home who NFL games are for now."
When it's 60-70 degrees in a later season game and the team is 2-10 and the seats are still empty as people hang out on the concourse you'll see that it's mostly due to the team playing poorly since 2014. Bad teams don't get fans watching them in general, so bad teams playing in uncomfortable heat especially don't.

I didn't ask for a ticket and don't need your charity. If you want to deflect and don't want to hold the fanbase accountable then that's your prerogative. That was not a fanbase on Sunday and as part of it I was embarrassed. You better believe when I get the opportunity to go I won't be ducking for cover or leave before the game's over.
I just think you're a hypocrite sitting on your ass in A/C criticizing others who paid money and made the effort to go. Does that make sense? If you went to the game, sat in the sun and complained about others I wouldn't have an issue. IMO, the people who at least tried to show up are less accountable than a fan like you who bashes them inside indoor A/C. Personally, I'm not criticzing the people who didn't want to get roasted, or even others who don't go to games UNLESS they are like you and bash the fans there. I wouldn't want to get roasted in the sun to watch our team get their ass whooped.

College kids can afford a $50 ticket and public transit. You gonna bash fans at the game, at least go.

Bruh I'm literally 3-4 hours away in college how am I supposed to be paying for an uber or plane ticket for that kind of travel lol. I tough it out in hot stands at free meaningless college games. You better believe for a legendary team I care about + that kind of investment I'd be in the stands cheering and taunting the opposing team. Doesn't take a season ticket holder to point out the obvious that lots of our fans were just as pathetic as the team on Sunday.

Makes me wonder what percentage of season ticket holders from 2007 at Candlestick are season ticket holders at Levis.

I will not go to hot ass game to watch s**tty football, I can barely watch that garbage on tv.

I appreciate your honesty and consistency

brah its really bad, being a bad football team is one thing but being a boring football team is way worse. these fools aint entertaining we have no play makers. I was hoping shanny would bring in some dudes but geez this group is just as bad last 2 years.

I don't know man, I still managed to watch and get pumped for every game of the 2004 Tim Rattay, Ken Dorsey, Cody Picket show when I was like 8. I get it's frustrating, but I'm down to sit through a legit rebuild so we can get back to our 2011-2014 status

Yah i been watching since like 86 this 3 year stretch is the worst i ever seen.

At least we are breaking records....not the good ones though.

Californians are such pussies try going to the southern east coast during the summer time where 90-100 degrees with humidity will make your life misrable regardless if you have shade or not, dress light, bring sunglasses & sunscreen and you'll be fine babies. Besides this was the only game of the season that this will be an issue, game vs Rams is a night game and daylight savings will be in full effect when we come back to play Dallas

That's why we choose to live up here foo!

f**k anything above 70 Degrees! I an't trying to waste gas having my AC on.

Yup, compare them to the Warriors. I heard the tickets were selling in the after market for a couple of thousand dollars.

Win more games than you lose, and the fans will come back.
we've had a terrible fan base since the early 2000s. nothing new here.
Fellas, we are also not considering the other factor of live football in general losing some "mystique" or value. Much more people would prefer to watch all the games, and on a big ass TV. If you want to watch the game really closely, TV is much better obviously.

Jed failing on the stadium, with the other variables we have discussed is the perfect s**t storm.
