Damn, I was too young to remember that...I go back close to that, to 1977, with my memory as a fan (I do somewhat remember Monte Clark and the 'Gold Rush' D line). 10 sacks in a game is incredible! I remember Aldon having 5 by himself vs. the Bears.
77 was the year when joe thomas took over. monte got fired. and we were awful for three years., 76 was a great year or at least first half when we were 6-1 and ended up 8-6. we set a record for sacks in a year with 61. tommy hart and cedrick hardman each had about 18 i think. that year had willie mcgee not got hurt and others. we could have won the super bowl. rode that defense and good running game behind game manager plunkett.
That's right, I remember Plunkett on the team - got the crap beat out of him if I remember. Regarding that D line, wasn't Cleveland Elam a member as well? That line went off that year! Don't remind me of Joe Thomas. I know this: Not long after becoming a fan at a young age, I had to endure two straight 2-14 seasons...yet I've always stuck with the team and have thought that if I can get through those years, I can get through anything. Fortunately, Eddie D. and Walsh came and the rest is history. I'll always hold strong through anything in pulling for the Niners - I'm always keeping a positive outlook, even after these tough past few years and the rebuild currently happening (I will give Lynch and Shanahan time and like what they're doing so far). Tonight, they need to beat the Rams and I fully expect them to do so.
