We are.

They cannot nail down their first round picks. Instead of drafting corner stone players, they draft raw, high bust rate players with some "upside."
Pretty disappointing. Our offense looked terrible in the first half, confused ineffective no execution no playmaker at wide out. I think that shanny spent a lot of time installing a complicated scheme and not coaching up fundamentals.

We look very messy there. Never seen joe get a false start call on second and doable in how many years? That just points to confusion, to me. And hoyer is playing scared, just like gabbert. Get rid of the 2 man.

The defense was junior varsity playing against all stars. I dont know how to put it any other way. Seattle must be absolutely rock bottom. We dont look like we have any beef out there against the big guys. You cant play rookies against good vets. Just cant do it. Too many years in the weight room. We have some players but every run i saw gurley fell forward turning 3 to 5, 4 to 7.

Um the second coming of 2012? Im not seeing it. But we have some pieces. I dont think all the defensive movement and shifting helps. The players arent reading the offense, thinking about their shift assignment.

If you wonder can we be competitive with 100m$ cap space the answer is no.

It is basically what you expect from a team with 30 new players. You can see the flashes and they have been competitive in 2 of the 3 games. However, they have not jelled yet and will continue to make the mistakes that good tenured teams do not make. They will be frustrating to watch this year because you will feel like they are close to winning games. Unfortunately, teams that are not seasoned makes bone head plays and find ways to lose games. Good teams do not make those mistakes, but they have also been working in the same system for several years.

We still don't have a legit QB
Our defense is mostly really young and inexperienced
Our OL has shaken up quite a bit
Our skill positions on offense is sparse, and young

At least they are not getting blown out every game. A close game is Seattle is a good sign, as is scoring 39 points last night after playing Sunday afternoon. If we drop a couple mistakes from the last couple games, we win them both and are 2-1. Unfortunately, we are young and developing, so the mistakes are going to continue.....

If Gould made that extra point (and on the last TD) we would have gone to OT and with that momentum may very well had won. If the refs don't call that BS PI on Taylor we probably win with a field goal.

If Dontae Johnson didn't get called for a phantom holding on Dumervil's sack.

If Brian Hoyer doesn't throw an interception on the first play.

If Carlos Hyde doesn't make it in on 4th and goal either time.

If Mostert doesn't fumble.

If we don't get the onside kick or special teams turnover.

If we get the first down at the end and no OPI.

If our receivers don't drop any balls.

If If If.

A lot of "If's" happen on both sides. It just is what it is.

This team just makes so many game costing errors it's so f**king frustrating

Since i know we rebuilding, i see it as something they can learn from. Better to make costly errors now than make them when we are finally a superbowl contending team.
It reminds me of the singletary years where we would consistently shoot ourselves on the foot. After my anger subsides I keep telling myself as time goes we'll stop doing that s**t like when Harbaugh came.

I cannot agree on Hoyer at all...he has a lot of problems but he is absolutely not scared...that dude was fearless last night. How many times did he get crushed to make the throw? Easily 5 or 6. He is absolutely not scared. He is limited, mobility is a problem, he makes at least one bad pick a game, he is streaky with his accuracy...these are things we knew, that is why he is a journeyman and not a starter but what he did last night to pick himself up and start throwing those deep balls that got us back in the hunt....that earned him the right to see this season through baring a complete implosion from here or just wanting to see the kid for the last few weeks.

For sure we started out the game looking like a lot of teams do on Thursdays...tired, unprepared, flat...but we can forget the these guys shook it off and played one of the, if not the most entertaining Thursday night game ever. If you watched that game and saw a team that wasn't competitive I don't even know what you were watching. Even as bad as the defense was, they got a few stops there at the end that allowed us to close the gap.

If we can get the defense we had against Seattle on the field at the same time as the offense from last night and clean up just half of the mistakes...not even all, we will have something to build on. We need a lot more talent to be sure, but looking at the game within the game you can see what the foundation we are building looks like...you can see the plan, and for a team that hasn't had one since Harbaugh left that is really refreshing.
was the defense just tired from Sunday?

Yeah Bow is fine...yes he missed a few tackles last night but people don't watch where he was supposed to be and how much of an effort it is for him to even get a hand on some of the guys he does. Catching a stud like Gurley when you are coming from a horrible angle to cover someone else's blown assignment doesn't work out every time...no matter how great you are.

It was a huge piece of it, you could see it with the injuries and the lack of speed...especially early. They battled hard but the sheer number of snaps on Sunday followed by a team full of track stars on a Thursday night was always going to be dicey. Lets face it the Rams have absolutely elite speed at the skill positions. I just hope most of the injuries are temporary.
At least it looks like R Robinson has figured out he isn't the best CB on the planet.

Is it me or do several players celebrate after catching a ball or making a tackle? I remember Goodwin celebrating after a catch, I was just grateful he didn't drop it.

Every losing team in every close game makes so many game costing errors.

One score games are coin flips, and the 9ers last two losses have come from a combined five points.

One score games (and 3 points or less games in particular) even out over time.

no

Goff has looked good all season, and looked good in preseason too.

Not this good obviously, but totally different player compared to last year.

Is this defense going to play Seattle's terrible OL every week?

We're not going to get those kinds of performances. It was obviously a fluke. Any decent OL seems to stuff these guys pretty easily
