We look very messy there. Never seen joe get a false start call on second and doable in how many years? That just points to confusion, to me. And hoyer is playing scared, just like gabbert. Get rid of the 2 man.
The defense was junior varsity playing against all stars. I dont know how to put it any other way. Seattle must be absolutely rock bottom. We dont look like we have any beef out there against the big guys. You cant play rookies against good vets. Just cant do it. Too many years in the weight room. We have some players but every run i saw gurley fell forward turning 3 to 5, 4 to 7.
Um the second coming of 2012? Im not seeing it. But we have some pieces. I dont think all the defensive movement and shifting helps. The players arent reading the offense, thinking about their shift assignment.
If you wonder can we be competitive with 100m$ cap space the answer is no.
Excellent Brodie...the defensive movement and shifting doesn't help and makes our DBs uncertain of who and what to cover. Same goes for all the shifting and stunting on O. We didn't confuse the rams one iota. We did, however, get messed up on D when their O came to the line and the ball was snapped...bang , bang. A number of times our DBs had no idea who to cover. Now maybe our DL knows what to do once they have played together a couple yrs, but right now, our D is being taken advantage when the Rams came tot he LOS and the ball was snapped. We weren't sure who to take or where to go. All our shifting did was get us penalties, etc....Joe S was one of them.
And he NEVER does that.
That was my impression. A little movement here and there, ok. But it was called too much and didnt think the results were positive. We didnt look ready when they came up. And as i said, it doesnt look like we have the oversized load in the trenches to deal with good pro vets. Not a lot of girth on armstead thomas.

I would add tall red zone WR to that list.

What's really funny is I remember reading a post here that said something like, "it wouldn't surprise me if this is another game like Seattle, where the final score is 9-6." And I thought to myself, "yeah, I could totally see this being a low-scoring battle of incompetence, that sounds about right."
For real...I thought coming into the game this would be like that Ravens Thursday night game where the only TD scored was a bomb to Ted Ginn Jr....which of course, was called back on a phantom holding penalty.

Winning all around.
At some point during this rebuild (currently in its 3rd year), you'd hope the goal would be for the team to actually win games rather than just position themselves for a higher draft pick.
This isn't the 3rd year of the current rebuild. Every time we fire a coach and ESPECIALLY fire a GM, it starts all over again.
This is why everybody in the game thread calling for Shanny to be fired are morons.

Don't forget that dominant big bodied unstoppable ZWR either.

All needs but it's interesting that getting a top FQB allows the WRs to look better and also makes FAs more likely to sign. On defense a top pass rusher makes the DBs look better. So in reality the team needs to replace Aldon Smith and Joe/Steve...it's been a while.

I literally woke up on the other side of the bed, and upside down lol. But I woke up thinking, Hoyer looked like baller. Sure a bad first play, but he forgot about it. Made some great plays, even a spin move to avoid a sack. Excellent placement on the deep ball to Garcon, Threw into 2 defenders to deep ball to goodwin.
And even after the last 2 games, and being down they never lost their fight.
The defense did slow down, but with Rueben, Tartt, and Reid not on the field it hurts. It shows how good each one is. Reid and Tarrt are special in this Defense. They can build something really special. 2 Hard Hitting safeties, that have range. Wards presence was not even noticed. He does not make the impact either other safety made.
When Foster, Tarrt, and Reid get back, we are only missing a corner, and a real edge rusher. Corner can be filled by ward.
We need a rg, and a center for the line and we will make serious move.
Big thing overall is the mentality is there, the dog in them is there. We do have playmakers, the players are buying in!

ward is not reid or tarrt. Basically he was not even noticeable. He is clearly not as good, and clearly doesnt make the impact they do.

My observation is I am glad the offense finally clicked a little. Its obvious the team doesn't have the talent that other teams have. It was a fun game to watch, but the INT to start the game, missed extra point, bad blocking and a s**tty call cost the game.
Overall, I am good with Shanny. I think he will be a solid coach. I also am happy with the D coordinator. With an improved secondary, and Reid and Foster back, he will be fine. Just need Lynch to come through with the players for the next year or two.
I'm not going to list needing a QB and CB, etc. because that is obvious.

Again...as ugly as it looked @ times....this IS PROGRESS. We got scores even though the offense still seems like their finding there way.

that play got called back because a d-lineman was 'enaged' in a block with one of our o-lineman and frank gore took out his legs. called it an illegal high-low block

To be fair, this is kind of a re-re-build. It's more like year 1, not year 3.

Do the defenders need to learn how to play zone when it is thrid and 10. You camp out on the first down line, give them everything underneath and stop them. playing aggressive and leaving the middle of the field open was pee wee football

So are we proclaiming Armstead and Carradine busts then? They are not part of the future? Just want to be clear.
This is what you mean by rebuild year 1.
If people agree to that, that's fine. As long as we agree that the d-line has been complete trash for what we invested.
