how do any of these 3 players affect the pass rush at all?

Saleh rarely blitzes. He just sends 4 man rushes every week expecting the same thing to work. That's the Pete Carroll scheme. Difference is that they have elite players.

The DBs and LBs aren't going to be able to cover all day.

No one was calling it progress when chip kelly hung with Seattle at the tail end of last year, did they?

Nope... and that is the point. All the Mindless Neanderthals calling this last game progress were somehow enlightened enough to recognize when a close loss wasn't progress. If there is one thing I can't stand in Mindless Neanderthals it is inconsistency! Stupid Mindless Neanderthals putting thought into things. You should be ashamed! SMH

edit: It might be hard to tell but this was heavy sarcasm and "Mindless Neanderthal" is meant to refer to those who saw last game as progress... and it is the Mindless Neanderthals who should be ashamed. (End of attempt to non-sarcastically explain the sarcasm )

That was a really poor attempt at humor.

Please, enlightened one--how did last night's close game differ from the end of last season's other than a different coach and new players? Something to "build off of" is a dumb phrase that means nothing (see the Nolan years when we finished strong). What will this game matter? Especially when it was a loss.

Games to "build off of" are ones like the 23 point comeback we had in Philadelphia in Harbaugh's first year. The team never had come from behind before when it was down during all the years prior. We've seen games like the one we saw last night plenty of times before, except a barrage of points came with it at the end--for BOTH teams.

Sorry but it wasn't impressive. It was just another way to lose.

lmao!!!!! play recognition, reid and tarrt are good against the run. Are you telling me ruben at linebacker has nothing to do with stopping the run? LMAO

okay? We were fine against the run without these guys. Goff was carving us up in the passing game and we gave up 40 points. You watch the game?

Absolutley I watched ward was invisible. Ray ray stinks. and tarrt left halfway through. I believe 100% reid, tarrt who are good and athletic safties would have helped in the passing game. And ruben is pretty good there too. so yes i think those 3 would have made the difference

Lol. There were blown assignments yesterday. We have players not playing in a position they were drafted for. We already have some substantial injuries.

It's going to be ok. The defense is improved from last year's personnel and scheme. It's only going to get better.

Nailed it!

Well foster is stronger and faster than ray ray. Has better play recognition, and rarely misses tackles. Not to mention right now may be better than bowman.
Reid has better play recognition than jerome(atleast in the box).

And the ni ers were not great vs the run. They were average, gurley was able to get a few extra yards almost every play. And when you have foster instead of armstrong, you can trust him in space more, so you are willing to send the extra man.

Even Collinsworth noted last night that Saleh was limited in his scheme thanks to the injuries.

Nope. Maybe foster would have shut down a few runs. But reid and tartt arent difference makers like that.

On the final 49er drive after the onside recovery, there was a screen to Hyde dialed up. The telecast mentioned how Barron saved a huge gain had Hyde gotten past him. The 49ers caught the Rams in a blitz, exactly when you want to call a screen pass. Trent Brown blocks his man into Fusco, preventing Fusco from getting out to the edge to lead block for Hyde. And that's what allowed Barron to make the tackle for no gain.

The two collide. I don't know what Brown is taught to do, but he should know that Fusco is trying to get to the edge.

It appears as though the inside rush of 97 made it very difficult for Brown to just move him out of the way. It also appears as though Fusco hesitated a bit before he moved outside.

Takes very good timing to make that play work.
Pretty pedestrian open field read by hide as well. Is it too much to ask for an NFL running back to show some jump & Jive? I guess so. Gee I wonder who would have made that run work who's not on our roster anymore? Damn you Balki

Tartt has been our best playmaker all 3 games.

Need a true edge rusher Elvis isn't cutting it

I never expected more than 4-5 sacks this season from him. Now Eli Harold, Lynch? Armstead?

Love how you attribute things to people that they never said... but that was the point of my post. Irony?

At some point during this rebuild (currently in its 3rd year), you'd hope the goal would be for the team to actually win games rather than just position themselves for a higher draft pick.

It's Year 1 of the rebuild. Baalke never approached the last two seasons as rebuilds. Sucks as fans, but this is the actual Year 1. 2014-15 were simply wasted years, not rebuild years.

Yup, unfortunately it is year 1. He extended Vance Mcdonald's contract, the guy was sabotaging us, Baalke was a shehawk spy

Some thought Harbaugh was remember? Someone has to make a movie, you can't make this s**t up.. West Coast coach ran out by 49ers organization only later to find out, baalke was the spy.

Jed gets caught erasing Harbaugh's name from the 49ers history. Lol

Plenty of drama

Is it better to have loved and lost (a Superbowl) than never to have loved at all?

Nice one...

I just wish we would have left out the backstabbing. We might have had a real chance. Imagine if we would have let him do his job? Something as simple as that might have made a difference.

I understand Wu and really want to look back fondly on the Harbaugh years, but the last playcalls in that Superbowl (and the following NFC championship game) are my lasting, bitter memories.
