He had 45 yards rushing and he's black, y'know.

You're really questioning Phoenix who actually watches college football, versus you expert knowledge of watching Barrett play for one quarter? LMAO

I guess you would have drafted Jamarcus Russell after he carved up the Fighing Irish in the Sugar Bowl.

Not an NFL QB? I love your reasoning.

He just isn't, same way Troy Smith wasn't an NFL QB, Terrelle Pryor wasn't an NFL QB, Braxton Miller wasn't an NFL QB and Cardale Jones will also flush out of the NFL in short order. Its not even an Ohio State thing its just that the school has a history of finding guys who fit well in their offense but don't translate well to the next level.

We've seen QB's win national championships, win the Heisman, put up amazing numbers against the best defenses in football and still wind up being drafted late or going undrafted at all. You can kill it in college and still lack the physical tools and instincts to play at the NFL level. That is pretty much where Barrett is at.

If you want to continue this discussion we can take it to the draft forum.
By all means - if you let me know where the draft forum is. I'm not a mod. Not today, though, but I will continue this discussion with you.

I'd like you to explain how you are so certain Barrett "lack(s) the physical tools and instincts to play at the NFL level" and how that is different from every other college QB ever.

I've seen plenty of college QBs over the years. Lots and lots and lots of them. You're questioning me? You are ASSuming and you know what that means.

There is your Barrett thread in the draft forum.

If you've watched lots and lots of them you would know that it takes far more than a single quarter to reach any sort of basic conclusion about a player. In anycase, you can go to the Barrett thread and explain specifically what traits he possesses that make him a good future NFL QB prospect and not a guy likely to be out of the league or playing a different position in 2 years.

I'm basing it off the fact you saw him play for ONE QUARTER. Your words.

JaBlobbus was addicted to Purple Drank. Bad. Are you aware of a serious drug addiction that Barrett has that I'm not aware of?

His career stats at OSU, his stats and OSU's performance this year, and one of the best college QB performances I've ever seen in a huge comeback win against the #2 team.

What are you basing your argument on? TOTAL IGNORANCE and Phoenix's posts? Your words.
So... looking forward to playing a Cardinals team next week. At least it's a team that is a bit more beatable...but of course, they'll have the bye week rest in their favor.

Bill bird, i have to disagree with you and a host of other fans who thinks CJ isn't the one..

Whoa Doc! Me thinks you have me confused with someone else. I only observed that Beat Hard did not play all that well today. That was my only observation.

In no way, shape or form am I even suggesting that he is not the one. I think he's been placed in an impossible situation. He's a rookie QB on a bad, bad team. With the loss of Staley, it just got worse.

I know everyone is salivating over the prospect of grabbing Saquon Barkley. I think that would be a mistake. If we finish with the first or second pick in the draft, it's my opinion that we trade out of that spot for additional picks, and then spend that draft capital on beefing up a terrible offensive line. Tackles, guards and centers, in that order.

This team will never compete with the big boys until we have offensive and defensive fronts that absolutely MANHANDLE our opponents. The key to future success starts up front. That shiny bauble of a great RB blinds a great many people from what we need: BEEF.

As far as C.J. is concerned, the kid deserves a chance behind a line that will protect him. Until we draft those earth movers, you can't grade our rookie QB fairly.

We were an olineman injury away from being forced to start a TE on the Oline today.

I remember the days when Vernon Davis WAS the best OLine blocker we had on the team. He would positively blow holes open for Gore to run through.
Barrett is playing some great football right now. I'd at least let the season play out before I write him off as an OSU system qb/ NFL receiver. Phoenix is pretty kind about Jackson's development he might be sleeping on Barrett's due to their qb history.

Anyways..lets take the Barrett to the draft forum. There is already at least one thread about him.
