If the defense can't get to the QB any secondary is in trouble!

not all QBs can get the ball out that fast and that accurate
Man those 2 young guys looked like they were going to the hall of fame. We need more pass rush and the secondary needs to improve.

Lmao. Pay to rehab. He may as well get into coaching.

But how's he running right now? Probably easier to sign now because we've played a few games and the vet guarantees are done.
The DBs were fine today, the problem was the pressure, or lack thereof, Oliver was good, Ward & Lenoir also, Gipson & Huf solid, some stuff needs refining, but overall a good job with the lack of pressure.

He didn't give up any catches at all last year while being targeted IIRC. STUD.

Yeah, no thanks, we have Luter ready week 5 hopefully, no need for Verrett, as much as I love the guy, he just can't stay healthy.

Pressure can't get there when you are so far off the receiver the qb can get rid of it quick. Lenoir was absolutely a problem. Every catch he was 10 yards away giving cushion. Pick made up for what was a poor game.

not worried at all overall it was a scheme issue it was cleaned up in 2nd half after making half time adjustments

The ball was coming out quick everytime. Bits unrealistic to expect instapressure on every snap

Rams really showed everyone how you attack Ward in this defense - tons of crossers and in-breaking routes across the field.

Ambry Thomas is not a starter in this league, they distrust him so much he has to play with a huge cushion every time.
Lenoir is similar, but at least Lenoir can tackle and sometimes he knows he can undercut a route.

Oliver is cool for his pseudo-SAM nickel role but he isn't really a coverage guy.

Whenever the dline cant get immediate pressure with four, the corners look like food.

Right now its a very turnover-reliant secondary that just tries to prevent the big play and maybe force a mistake or two when the opposing offense is methodically driving.

DB's have been a low priority as Iong as Kyle's been coach. I think. They depend on an elite DLine to cover up defensive back weakness. I hope the hiring of Wilks and the high drafting of some CB's Ja'aire and Luter - signals a change in philosophy finally.
