I pray everything will look better as the pass rush starts to make more pressure. What's Verett up to these days?

Nah they weren't good today well for the most part they weren't. I didn't like it when Lenoir and Ambry kept playing like 10 yards off cause they were scared of getting toasted. And when they did the receivers would just run a slant which Stafford kept passing to over and over, got damn that was frustrating. But with Thomas injured, they definitely need to add another CB/DB now.

Wilks is still, I think, getting the feel of the Wide 9. Using it as a base defense alignment on first downs, I think presents problems if an offense runs against it. While Stafford was passing against the Wide 9, Rams did a good job running out of it too - it kept the 49ers defense off balance. Once Wilks started to bring pressure on first downs, and bringing in the big nickel - Rams had to start running against that defense, because it resulted in the first turnover. They couldn't run against it, and hopefully in the second Rams game, 49ers basically start out with the pass defense and dare the Rams to run.

Got to give it to Oliver, he really stepped up as a nickel DB.
With CB Isaiah Oliver, do you feel on Sunday that he took a step forward in this defense and it's more indicative of what you're looking for?
[Wilks] "I think all you guys can answer that question in the plays that he made out there, particularly that third down tackle, I think was phenomenal. Open-field tackle and that was huge at that point in time of the game. He came up with an interception, you can see just his length and the way he grabbed the ball out of the air. And then the fourth down play where he shot the gap. I couldn't be more proud of him and how he's stayed the course. You know, we moved some things around, he didn't waver, he didn't blink kept working hard and it paid off for him."
This is the thread 9ers4eva should be living in...not the OL thread and pivoting to secondary issues.

This is a real problem. S's are slow or absent in coverage, both CB's struggle and can be picked on, SCB is up/down depending on the matchup, conservative (way off) when we blitz giving the QB an easy option, aggressive when they should be cautious (Ward TD), etc.

I'm sorry that the real biggest issue of the team gets in the way of your own personal pat on back.

It's been the biggest problem and will continue to be. Doesn't help that the DC is completely lost.
Scheme and defensive coordinator is a much bigger problem than secondary. It's not perfect but it's not the biggest problem.

Think he's rehabbing in their PS.

Its both. The scheme isn't helping but there is a limit on the talent too. We can't pair the coverage with the rush enough.

I literally bumped this for you and agreed with you and all you can focus on is NC.

The floor is yours.

People that have standards for other positions outside of one position group understand it's the least talented unit. No one will.come.in here saying it has to be tier 1 to be championship level. So not much to debate.

You bring up my name in multiple threads and I'm focused on you?
Wilks sucks. Ward and Huff went from pro bowl caliber players to hot garbage.

Maybe they should.
Only 18 pages on an area folks voted is the weakest link? Odd.
