I'm curious to see who gets more snaps between J. Brown and Logan Ryan at Safety this game.

Rewatching the game I just noticed Ryan in the game. He missed the tackle on Jones in the 4th quarter that sprung him on that 50 yard run. Is Brown healthy ? I didn't hear anything about him.

Kyle said he didn't want to start a rookie that only had some practice the last four weeks

Interesting. In think he needs to play. Ryan totally missed on that run and he had a clean shot to stop him for a short gain.
Jason Verrett wouldn't have given up those pi's.

Nor would EMan
only real issue was the 2 PI on ambry outside that coverage was good against 4 solid WR . Had 2 plays the defender slipped sucks but that s**t will happen in rainy weather
We obviously need more competition at outside CB and I'd say it'd be a good idea to add depth at slot, but I honestly feel like Lenoir has that locked down.

Flag-Me Thomas just needs to settle down. Honestly, sometimes when he grabs.. it's not necessarily the worst play. He's just gotta brush off a rough game and bounce back like several others.

Can't hurt at all to get more competition at CB. Need to have a back up for Lenior. If Thomas or Ward go down then he bumps back outside. Can't let Oliver back on the field. At somepoint Luter or Womack needs to show if they can play or not.
Somewhere 9ers4eva is laughing at this comment from Lynch.

"He's a guy we like—obviously along with [Ward] and Deommodore," Lynch said of Luter, per The Athletic. "But I would say that's a position you have to address every year. You just can't have enough of 'em. And I think we'll continue to do that."
This has become a pretty exciting group. You've got two top young S's in Brown and Hufunga and it would be wise to bring back Gipson for depth if he'd like. Lenoir in the slot and Ward outside are excellent. Now you just need to add competition to Thomas, Luter and Womack outside. And as noted above, Lynch plans to add even more young talent to the group. This group started out as a worry unit but turned into a strength.

Hopefully they don't fall off after Wilks leaves. The guy was proven to be able to improve secondaries. Thomas and Lenior played there best ball this year. I can't call that a coincidence. I'd feel better with Thomas being the first guy off the bench. At this point Womack can be washed off he roster for a younger guy with more promise if they draft a guy. Luter should see the field more this year. I'm all for bringing back Gipson to mix in with Brown and huf. Wish we had some more speed back there though.
I hope they bring back Gipson. I think 3 safeties is important, even if all are healthy.

But i want a lockdown corner, even if it is at the expense of run defense. I do not care about INTs, just targets and receptions.
Can Jeremy Chinn play slot? I know he can play all over, including LB. might be a nice chess piece for them

They definitely have and I will say it's the one plus of Wilks. Secondary stepped up big time. In a perfect world where Wilks never was our DC, if Bullocks is ready, he would be our DC and Wilks would get hired as the secondary coach.

I love what we have and hope we can keep this core group longer. Get a corner in the second and we can really start locking some teams down.

They certainly improved this last year. Even Ambry Thomas whom many thought should be cut.
49ers really need to get Justin Simmons or Julian Blackmon in here and snag another safety in the 3rd or 4th round.

Yiadom looks like he can command the opposite side of Ward so the 3 starters looked locked in. They need another CB (maybe draft) to compete with Ambry, Luter, Womack and whoever else. Hopefully, two of them can turn out to be reliable back ups

This group has no one but Brown signed past 24. Absolutely need to address the depth issues to make sure FA doesn't gut the secondary in a year.
