honestly in our scheme WILL and MIKE are kinda interchangeable.

Shanny literally just said that other day except mike talks more - given his high wonderlick and smart he is likely will be mike.

Any of you think we will simply go big nickel majority of the time? Smith may hardly see the field.
Warner is going to be a player for us. Love how he finishes with physicality. He and Reuben will complement each other nicely.

sure do like this guy
Sort of reminds of a more athletic Chad Greenway who is also very fluid in coverage. Greenway was drafted #17 overall.
His closing speed looks insane. Also, good natural instincts and seems to take really good angles. This kid is a PLAYER!

This guy's thread in the Draft Forum is very informative (thanks, Hero). He was mainly used as a slot defender or force player (on the line of scrimmage) in college. It looked like they played a Quarters system where Warner was often the curl/flat player. At the Senior bowl, they put him at stack LB and he showed good run defense instincts from the few gifs shown in his Draft Forum thread. Warner personally said he thinks his best position is ILB, not what he played in college.

Exactly. The only difference is preference of Saleh, to have the MIKE wear the communication set. But if he needed the WILL to wear it, no big deal.

Great stuff. Lynch also commented about the need to have long rangy LB's like this (Foster) as they have so much space to cover. Warner seems to fit perfectly.

Yeah, he was an interesting study at the start because of how much time he spent playing force/overhang, which is a testament to the type of athlete he is. I knew he was exceptional in zone coverage after just a few games, but his read-and-reacting at the Senior Bowl was what sold me. The guy was keying and shooting gaps in practice and the game. Just a very instinctual player overall. So pumped to have him as a 49er.

Rueben: "Hey man, let's smoke weed in Alabama and shoot our guns in California!!!"
Fred: "Nah, man. I think we should smoke this weed in California then shoot our guns in Alabama!"

Reuben: "Dat's why I love you man--you smart as a muthafukka!"
Unreal, we found the next Culliver in Moore and the next Wagner in Warner this draft.
