Here's an in depth breakdown for ya....
The 49ers announced Monday morning that they've placed linebacker Fred Warner on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Further details are not available, but Warner's placement on the list does not necessarily mean he has tested positive for COVID-19. The list is also for players who've had close contact exposure to symptomatic or positive individuals. If this is Warner's case, NFL policy dictates that he isolate until the results of a virus test are available. Teams are not allowed to disclose whether a player tested positive for the coronavirus.
If Warner has actually tested positive for COVID-19, the timetable for his return to team activities depends on whether or not he is symptomatic, per league guidelines.
If Warner has tested positive and is asymptomatic, he can theoretically return in as little as five days, provided he tests negative for the virus twice in a 24-hour span and is cleared to return by the team physician.
If Warner has tested positive and is symptomatic, he'll have to wait at least 10 days after COVID-19 symptoms first appeared before his return can be approved by the team physician.
This flow chart illustrates the various possibilities at play under the NFL's COVID-19 protocols:

FWIW Jeff Wilson was placed on COVID list July 30th and came back Aug 4th.
