We sure do Fred. We sure do!
Got into a friendly debate today in the break room about who is the greatest LB in Niner history.
Of course everyone gets in their feelings about Pat and guys want to bring Gary Plummer into the conversation but honestly, name a better LB than Fred in Niner history.

LOL I still think Prime Pat was the best.

Navarro was one of my all time favorites too, but I'm sorry Fred is in a league of his own.
I'm not saying he hits harder or even makes the same tackles but from top to bottom all things considered and from a leadership role, he has been as good as we've seen, imo.

Chris Borland had a better season than Gary Plummer had a career.

Plummer had the fumble at the goal line against Buffalo. EPIC play but thats it. Aside that he was simply good. Standouts to me are Willis, Bowman, Warner. Then I would put Greenlaw, Brooks a step behind.

I dont think Pat could play today. He would be fined and suspended.

Yeah but then the argument would be could Fred play back then. Pat was a stocky 6'1 240lbs wrecking ball while Fred is a lean 6'3 230lbs predator. I'd say the cop out most make about any goat conversation. They are both the greatest during their time period of playing.

imo, Fred is certainly perfect for todays game.

I just remember Pat coming on as a rookie and he was so obviously freakish and amazing. Dude could hammer the running back 2 yards backwards and then the next play he was running with a slot receiver or TE.

This is my counter thought. Patrick would be an amazing middle linebacker in any era. I don't think Fred would be as good in the more physical violent past.
Lee Woodall was pretty good for us, I remember he looked like Evander Holyfields brother. He had some good seasons.

It's dope af that we're even having this debate.....says so much about Warner.

I'm guessing that when it's all said and done Warner might be seen as having a better career, simply for health and longevity reasons.....he's on pace to be the all time Niners tackling leader two seasons from now.

And I agree with Cisco, I think while Warner is a better LB for this era, Willis is more of an all time LB......he looks like he could've played in the '70s.

I would've given the tiebreaker on personality as Willis is super humble, but Warner seems about as good in that department too.

Such a great debate. If anything truly tips the scale, it's Willis' greatness for a few seasons before Harbaugh arrived. By the time Warner got national recognition, the Niners were charging to a Super Bowl.

Bothers me he's still not in the Hall of Fame. There was an NFL journalist who felt he was the best player in the league in 2009, purely on skill relative to his position....how TF does that person not make the HoF on first ballot????
