Teams have be able to wash Fred out of plays with regularity.....
Game after Game there is far too much traffic flowing right into the linebackers, on both runs and passes.
Personally, I can't hold that against Fred....not that he has not made mistakes, and not that he does not share some blame on certain downs....but to me... it is hard to establish a base line on "Fred the player" when the defense is in a state of chaos down after down.
The entire premise of this defense against the pass is to control the passing lanes, and stack coverage in those windows. Against the run, hold the edges and flow the linebackers to the ball.
We have been spoiled and have seen that working at a really high level in the past. We know it works when players with ability are plugged into the defense...
Lately though...just a cluster f**k.
Even Bosa, the Defensive MVP has had sooo many horrible downs...especially controlling the edge.
We have watched the defense transition from disciplined machine, with every part doing its job with high levels of precision, to a free for all gaggle that hopes they can get someone, anyone... to at least touch the opponent with the ball.
It is really hard to single out Fred against the run, or any LB for that matter and say "you are failing at your job" when the d-line is letting guards 5-10 yards down field with regularity, and we will not even get into the coverage break downs. You can point a finger at any number of players that have confused themselves when it comes to how this defense assigns its coverages.

I can't blame Warner for his level of play the last weeks because basically he is the only linebacker on the field because Campbell is gargabe and the interior of the d-line is getting abused.

Fred doesn't have that many years left as an elite LB. If he wants a ring he needs to go to a different team. He won't get one in SF, I wouldn't be surprised to see him start asking for a trade soon.

He's either not healthy or regressing. He's been completely invisible for a month after starting the season looking like a dpoy candidate

Our defensive coaching has went totally downhill after losing DR. We have 2 bad hires in a row along with a major loss of talent on the d line. We have coaches that don't know how to scheme up much of anything on defense.

Completely invisible for another game. Actually, correction, he hasn't been invisible: he's missed multiple tackles today

Fred was never that great against power running teams that bully you. If he doesnt punch the ball out or play in coverage, as a strict run-defending LB Greenlaw has been better for a long time.
Its just what he does in the pass game and turnovers are so good and because run game has been on the downswing until like this year...people didnt really pay attention or it didnt matter as much
his worst games come when teams completely bully the Niners. The Atlanta game a couple of years back, etc.

The 1st half he was very below average. He was a step slow and played weak. There may be a injury that's not being reported. He missed a few tackles behind the line of scrimmage that I find bizarre compared to what he showed the first 4 weeks of the season.

Simply not good enough.
Especially bad look when you run out for warmups shirtless (it wasn't that cold there anyway), are in the middle of the scuffle during warmups, then get dummied all game.

About 4 or 5 weeks of terrible play. Everyone is blaming Campbell for Fred's bad play. Not buying it. My eyes see him constantly missing tackles, taking terrible angles and easily being beat in coverage.

First 4 or 5 games he played lights out and Campbell was bad then too. Campbell actually played better during the middle 4 games. Something has changed with Fred and it is bad.
